      Q:Can I use this microwave if I don't need to use the vent? I want a convection microwave that will be under a cabinet, but not over a range. Will this work, and I just don't use the vent or have it installed. I don't need it.

      A:  Hello Mary, we can not recommend using this appliance if it is not installed per the installation requirements. Failure to meet those requirements can void your warranty. We hope this helps.

        A:  Sure you can. As all other OTR microwaves this one can be installed w/o external ventilation system in so called recirculation mode. And then it's up to you, if you need venting for any reason, you turn it on, if not, just left it switched off.

                      A:  Although it is convertible, it is set up for venting to the outside by installing a duct that goes up through the cabinet (if any) that sits above the unit or through the wall the is behind the unit. If you want to recirculate the air, you will need to buy a Recirculation Kit Part Number W10294733. I presume the kit either includes or calls for ducting if you have it vent upwards, if you have a cabinet over the unit.
