A: You may face staple the insulation but the best practice is to check with your local building codes and also check with your drywall contractor. Drywall contractors generally request inset stapling.

Q:Can I install in subfloor ?
by|May 13, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: This depends on what is already there. If this has poly already on the ground, then you cannot install kraft paper, as you are creating a double vapor barrier, and you may be creating condensation in this area. If you have poly, you may slit the kraft paper and that will alleviate this situation. If there is nothing on the ground, then you may install the kraft paper but the kraft paper should go to the warm side of the home.

Q:Can I use it. In 2x4 stud wall
by|May 6, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: When you compress insulation in a wall cavity, you lose R value. In this case, the stated R value is 21 but when you compress it into a 2X4 wall cavity the R value reduces to approximately an R15. R15 is available at the Home Store stores or you may purchase on homedepot.com, you may also use R13 in a 2X4 wall cavity.
NAIMA provides compressed R Value information, please visit:

Q:Can I use 2 layers of R13 inside of a 2x6 wall cavity?
by|Apr 16, 2024
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: You can use R13 kraft and an R13 unfaced, you cannot install double vapor barrier, meaning two batts with kraft facing. You could encounter condensation in the walls, if you do this. Also, you would be compacting the double layers of R13. Each batt is 3 1/2" thick and the 2X6 cavity is 5 1/2" so you will not achieve a full R26. R19 and R21 are specifically manufactured for a 2X6 application and Home Depot should carry the R19 and/or R21.
