A: These are not tamper resistant, no.
A: I have not seem them in 10 packs at hardware stores. You may need to look at electric supply houses
A: There is a small tab on each side of the outlet that is to be broken off if one outlet is to be switched and the other to remain hot. Check to see if this tab was removed.
A: This question doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.... this wiring device can handle 15A, per the description. This should only be installed on a circuit wired with 14 gauge wiring. Since this is a two blade design I assume you have a two wire system, without a ground. Often older wiring is harder to tell the gauge if you’re not used to looking at wiring. To make things simple since I’m guessing you’re not an electrician, I recommend you only install this device on a circuit protected by a 15A circuit breaker. This is an outdated type of device (no ground). You may be better off paying a few dollars more for a GFCI outlet that can handle older wiring with more protection. Of course, you’d be safest by hiring a licensed insured electrician.... but I’m just assuming that you aren’t interested in this since you’re asking yourself!
A: Yes and No. This type of outlet is rare, expensive, and half unsafe. I?d think aluminum wires are for GFCI and other three prong outlets
A: No, this device is not rated for aluminum wiring. Leviton offers the 12650 which is CO/ALR rated, but not a 2-wire receptacle..
A: Yes and no. Any device can be used with aluminum wiring so long as the correct transition pieces/whips are used. These are expensive and hard to find. You would be better off using a gfci device rated for “cu/al” as there is usually a better selection, and you won’t end up with unsafe converters or cut off three prong plugs....
A: Hi David, unfortunately for this 15 Amp 2-Wire Duplex Outlet, White, if ordered on Homedepot.com, will be shipped as it appears on Homedepot.com. We are not able to make changes to the product. We appreciate your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Thank you for shopping Home Depot!
A: Sorry, but Leviton does not offer a tamper-resistant two-pronged duplex.
A: If you use oscilloscope, you need this outlet. Just paint it red and only plug the circuit under test into it. The mounting ears are not connected to the white terminals. No 3rd wire earth connection. Saves your scope from a blow up and your circuit.
A: If you don't use the outlet and don't wanna replace it with a GFCI, why not stick one back in? You have to run a ground to replace with three prong or you might kill someone. You can put in GFCI, but that only protects the person plugging in the equipment, not the equipment. (Label it "No Equipment Ground so no one screws up expensive equipment thinking it's grounded) I have a feeling you've replaced a few outlets without ground with 3 prong. Lol. If the neutral (rat chews wire in wall, can happen, has happened) is ever compromised, the person holding the toaster dies.
A: Some old homes don't have a ground wire running to every outlet. It isn't legal to use a three wire outlet when only two wires are available.
A: Because a grounded outlet must be connected to a ground. If it is inconvenient to connect to ground then use the two-prong outlet.
A: If your house wiring is old enough where it does not bring a ground wire to the outlet box, you need to use this kind of 2-wire outlet, otherwise there will be a false impression that a device with a 3-prong plug is being safety-grounded.
A: Not all homes have ground wires installed at all the boxes, and this helps prevent the insertion of appliances which require a ground into a 3-pronged outlet that has no actual ground connection.
A: No, these are not.
A: No, they are not.
A: No, these devices are not tamper-resistant.
