Q:Does this have the annoying Leviton name stamped on the front?

    Answer This Question

A:  Purchased August 2021. Unlike the picture these do have the Leviton name stamped on the front. Ordered of these (non 10-pack) and will be using them behind the bed/furniture. Leviton wants to use your home decor as their billboard.

Q:I have 12 gauge 4 pairs of wires (total of 8 wires). How many wires can I use on each screw. Do I just slip 2 straight wires and tighten the screw?

      Answer This Question

A:  One wire per screw. If you need to splice more wires, splice ALL of them together using a wire nut and include one extra short wire and attach that wire to the screw.

A:  2. This is a 15A receptacle. #12 wire is rated for 20A. As long as you are protected by a 15 amp source you're ok.

A:  In a high use area where the circuits are 20 amp definitely use the commercial grade. They are pricier but worth it.

A:  It means it's for home use. That's why it's cheaper, might not last as long as 'commercial grade', but what do yo expect!!??

          1 found this answer helpful

A:  Generally speaking, Residential grade doesn’t hold up as well as Commercial grade. Commercial grade typically have higher quality or grade materials because they are used more heavily (i.e. plugging & unplugging tools, higher amperage, etc.)

A:  I went with the residential grade outlets for my home and, they work great. I had over forty of them installed by my electrician and they work and look great. I asked my electrician the same question when we visited the store and, he believed the residential "preferred" version would work just fine...thus far they have. We have no complaints...just smiles as they make the house look great and provides a high-end finished look.

A:  Yup. Any outlet after the GFCI outlet will become protected by that upstream GFCI outlet.

A:  Short answer, YES. I'm assuming you are referring to the breaker in the electrical panel. OR, are you installing one down circuit from an existing GFCI on the same line? Either way, it should pose no problems. As long as you are not installing a 20 amp outlet and plan on loading all 20 amps. At that point you will be resetting your breaker all of the time.

Q:My rental has aluminum wiring are these receptacles OK to use

                      Answer This Question

A:  The answer here may depend on the state that you live in. The easiest solution and probably the safest solution is to use copper pigtails (12 AWG for 20 amp devices and 14 AWG for 15 amp devices) with CU/AL rated wire nuts. These CU/AL wire nuts are more expensive but this is what you need to properly install these outlets. Piece of mind is priceless.

A:  Yes. Be sure connection is wrapped around screw and tight. Aluminum tends to loosen over time.

                        by|Feb 23, 2020

A:  I wouldn’t use it, aluminum wiring corrodes faster than copper wiring so it can overheat and chase an electrical fire. Ask for special outlets designed to use aluminum wiring.

A:  Yes, I am no expert but this exact receptacles were actually what I went with in my house and they have been great. I installed them myself 5 years ago and they are still new, no issues. Hope this helps.

A:  No. 100% copper or CCA (copper clad aluminium) only. You will need to use copper pigtails.
