Q:what is the minimum temperature it can handle and still bond
by|Jan 5, 2021
1 Answer
Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for the question. In general, low temperature is not critical to these types of glues whereas heat resistance is. Typical for a cyanoacrylate adhesives like the Loctite Professional Super Glue is -65 °F. This does not mean you will get these results in your project. Actual results will vary depending upon what the intended use is, size and scope of project, materials being bonded and what other conditions the glue bond may be subjected to, for example stress at the bond line or shock resistance.

    Answer This Question

A:  I don't think so. I had a similar problem with a broken freezer door shelf guard. The temperature is the problem. An epoxy might be better

A:  Thank you for the question. The Loctite Professional 20 g Liquid Super Glue will not bond to polypropylene

    by|Nov 24, 2023

A:  Yes I think it wil work just fine. This Loctite is really good stuff, been using it for a long time now no complaints.

      by|Oct 7, 2020

A:  Loctite two-part epoxy glue. The best glues for fixing fridge plastic are known as plastic bonders. These typical glues have a two-part epoxy glue that often requires mixing, such as Loctite epoxy glue. This typical glue comes in a pre-filled syringe for dispensing both parts of the glue. The Home Depot paint department will have your choice of glues.

Q:Can I use this glue a crack plastic part togather and prevent water leak out?
      by|Aug 7, 2020

      Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for the question. Because you did not provide any background regarding your project, it is difficult to provide an adequate answer. It might be possible depending upon the nature of the repair needed keeping in mind the glue does not work on all plastics. Also, the super glue cannot be used for filling or mending cracks. The repair would require the parts to be separate and fit together without any gaps. Last, if the water leak is caused by pressure this product will not work. You might need to consider an epoxy but in either case the success will depend upon the plastic composition and amount of available bonding surface.

      by|Aug 7, 2020

A:  Yes, Bonds with leather, china, wood, rubber, metal, paper, ceramic, and Most Plastics. Waterproof and solvent-resistant. The key is Most Plastics, is plastic under pressure? Home Depot also sells Marine White Putty by Loctite.

        Answer This Question

A:  Possibly. Test on a similar type of vinal befor doing your pool. Also be sure to use a patch over the tear. Check product specifications for this type of repair.

        by|Jun 2, 2021

A:  Not by itself. You need a piece of material to cover the hole. You might be better off looking for a pool patch kit.

        by|Jul 2, 2020

A:  I have used this to glue plastic to plastic, so I believe so.

        by|Jul 2, 2020

A:  Thank you for the question. The answer is no, the Loctite Professional Super Glue would not be recommend for this type of repair and will fail. You might try looking at the Loctite Vinyl, Fabric & Plastic Flexible Adhesive depending upon the material composition of the inflatable pool. You will also need to use a patch to create an effective repair in this situation. The adhesive alone will not be enough

        by|Jul 2, 2020

A:  Quick answer NO! When I purchase pool floats and rafts for my kids I also receive a patch packaged separately. Think about patching kid's bicycle tire you use a patch kit. Same thing with inflatable pool. I notice Home Depot sells Flex Seal Tape that might work.

A:  Yes, The Loctite Professional 20g Super Glue can most hard plastics to metal, but not all plastics. For example, this product will not bond to polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP), polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), and similar plastics having this composition. Also, the two substrates must fit precisely together with no gaps to be successful. One drop per square inch of surface are is all that is needed keeping in mind the results are dependent upon the amount of available bonding surface and stress the item may be subjected to.

Q:I need to repair a plastic part used in the door opener mechanism of my microwave. I’m not sure what type of plastic it is made of. I assume that the only difference between the Loctite Professional Super Glue and the Loctite Plastics Bonding System is that the latter includes a solvent that is applied to the surface first. If you’re not sure what type of plastic you are working with, is it better to use the Plastics Bonding System?

                Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for your question. If you are not sure what type of plastic you are working with it is better to use the Plastics Bonding System. However, the success of the repair will depend upon the amount of available bonding surface, if it is a perfect fit without gaps, and how much stress the repaired part will be subjected to. It should also be noted that the Loctite super glues should not be used “inside” of microwave ovens.

Q:I am looking for an adhesive glue/epoxy that is electrically conductive. Does this product conduct electricity once cured? My research shows that another Loctite product, Loctite 3888 possesses these qualities, but I am unable to find a retailer that sells this. I only need single use, so any small such quantity would be especially welcome!
