A: Hello! The SCL-153P is a standard dimmer switch that can toggle your lights on and off, as well as dim them up and down. This device will control whatever lighting load you have connected to the dimmer. We recommend checking our LED Compatibility List at www.lutron.com/ledfinder to ensure that you are using compatible LED bulbs with your dimmer.

Answer This Question
A: Currently, there's no industry standard or regulation for manufacturing LEDs, which is why performance varies with dimming controls. That's why we extensively test a variety of LEDs from many different manufacturers, and offer a mobile-friendly web tool to help you select bulbs that provide the best dimming performance with your Lutron dimmers. To access the tool, please visit lutron.com/ledfinder.

Q:Can you put (3) of these in the same gang box? I for garage light, 1 for porch lights and 1 for door light. Is it too much heat?

Answer This Question
A: I have not tried to do what you are doing. Heat in a dimmer switch is from the internal circuit board and is minimal. I don't see any problem with what you are trying to do.

A: Yes, these controls can be ganged together but the metal fins on the side will need to removed. Removing the fins on the side lowers the maximum wattage the dimmer can handle if using incandescent/halogen bulbs. Please refer to the install guide for the wattage information, or give us a call at anytime 888-588-7661.

A: You are probably correct that dust has caused the problem. Only thing I can think of is disconnect and take it to a shop that has air compressor with high pressure hose and try to clean it. I would not try to dis-assemble. If you do something wrong it may become a fire hazard hidden behind your wall. My opinion, spend the money and buy a new one.

A: Try removing the switch and use a fine bristle brush follow by busts of compressed air. Maybe that will get rid of the dust?

A: I would try blowing the dust out with an air compressor or canned air.

A: You could try blowing it out using a can of compressed air. It's made to clean electronic equipment and would be safe for this. Good luck.

Q:Can this be used to replace a 4-way switch in a system needing 3 switches?
by|Feb 1, 2022
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: The CTCL-153P can be used in a existing 4 way application (3 switches controlling 1 light) however, it can only be installed at one of the 3 way locations. Only one dimmer will be installed in this circuit, the other devices will be the existing 3-way and 4 way switches.

Q:If I have a 3 way switch system to a light, can i use 1 of these on both ends to dim the light? If not, Then is there a "companion" to accompany this switch?

Answer This Question
A: For 3-way installations, only one STCL-153P may be used. The second location would have to be a 3-way mechanical on/off switch. If dimming is required at both locations, Lutron recommends the MACL-153M and its companion dimmer MA-R.

A: I used one dimmer switch and common 3 way on the other end.
