A:  It’s a 12x12 tile. I would imagine you would need a lot depending on your fireplace. Note that they are difficult to clean. I spray them and let dirt roll off since it gets stuck in the different bits

For best results we recommend using a thinset or mortar adhesive. This will ensure the tiles do not fall off. Good luck with your project!

A:  No. It's not solid on the back side. It's a mesh designed to be adhered to the wall using mastic.

A:  Yes it is possible, but the back of these tiles are not solid. The tiles are made of aluminum channel, so you only have the edges of the channel to adhere the tape to. The surface you see is the bottom of the channel.

A:  You can but that is NOT the correct way to install tile. I would use either thin set or mastic. If the tile is thin and light weight, then mastic will work fine but if the tile is 1/4" or thicker, I would use thinset. Also if the wall is not perfectly flat, thinset is a better choice.

A:  I would not use tape on the wall for this application. I installed this tile on a ceiling over a center island and I used mastic with a small "V" notch trowel and it worked fine. Unless you cover the entire area with tape, I believe that the pieces that were not taped will possibly fall off. Acrylic mastic for tiling purposes is the right way to go and it is less expensive that taping up an entire wall.
