A:  That's a known, widespread problem. I used mine only a few times before encountering it with very light use (less than 10 minutes of spraying paint). Had it serviced (check valve replaced) and it still blows its breaker in a couple of minutes. TRASH.

                          Answer This Question

A:  "Thank you for your question on the MAC5200 Air compressor. This tool is not recommended for spray painting. All Makita manufactured air compressors are recommended to be operated on not more than a 50% duty cycle. This means an air compressor that pumps air more than 50% of one hour is considered misuse because the air compressor is undersized for the required air demand. Please take a look at your spray gun CFM rating and operational specifications. "

A:  I have not used this specific compressor yet for auto painting.  I believe it is beefy enough to handle it.  I have another 12 gallon speed air compressor that I have used for auto painting in the past.  I think the Makita would work almost as well.

A:  I would not recommend this compressor for your application. This unit has a slow recovery rate and will not run during colder temps(below 50). It trips the breaker and will not start.

A:  To answer that you would need to know the air pressure and air volume requirements of your paint gun. My guess is no, it probably would not flow enough air continuously. It’s a great air compressor though.

A:  I keep my compressor in my shop and it never gets below 32 degrees, so I really don't know. But if you keep the tank drained it should start up well below that.

A:  Need to use a heavy duty cord, minimum 12 gauge in cold weather. Also, if more than 50 feet from power in cold weather I?d use a 10 gauge cord.
