A: All of our Engineered Hardwood Flooring is extremely durable, easy to clean and easy to maintain. All of our floors are sealed with 7 layers of super low gloss urethane finish with aluminum oxide, providing protection from everyday wear and all backed by a Lifetime Residential Finish & 5 Year Commercial Warranty. If you wanted to strip off all (7) Layers of Factory UV Cured Stain & Finish, and bring floor down to raw unfinished smooth wood, pending the install application this could technically be done (1) time on the 3/8” Locking which has a 1.2mm Thick Face Veneer and (2) times on the 1/2” Tongue & Groove which has a 2mm Face Veneer. However this sand & finish is not covered under warranty as there are too many variables which can affect the outcome performed by your professional sand and finish mechanic. More then likely you would never sand and finish a prefinished floor unless you want to 100% Change the color and remove the current Surface Texture and change to Smooth. You would also lose your lifetime residential finish warranty and the surface texture which is wire brushed or distressed with saw mark etc. If needed for whatever reason you could apply a new coat of finish to the floor using the Basic Coatings TyKote or Bona Prep recoat adhesion method for recoating a prefinished hardwood floor. If board damage occurs, you can always have a professional mechanic perform board replacement. When choosing between the 3/8" and 1/2" versions, consider the additional features of both. 3/8" Thick x 6.5" Wide Click Lock has lengths to 47.6", with 70% of Boards in each case being full length, and this product has a 1.2mm Sliced French Oak Face Veneer thickness. 1/2” Thick x 7.5” Wide Tongue & Groove Engineered has lengths to 74.8”, with 50% of boards in each case being full length, and this product features a 2mm Sliced French Oak Face Veneer thickness. Yes it can be installed over concrete. Under “Get Everything You Need” on each Product listing page, there are several underlayment options pending your floating floor requirements, STC-Sound Transmission Classification or IIC-Impact Insulation Classification requirements. One option is produced by Quietwalk - 100 sq. ft. 3 ft. x 33.3 ft. x 3 mm Underlayment w/Sound Barrier and Moisture Barrier for Laminate & Engineered Flooring Internet #304702498
A: All Malibu Wide Plank Hardwood Collections are extremely easy to clean, easy to maintain. Attached to each product listing page under info & guides is the "Use & Care Manual". In Daily Maintenance please see below: Daily Maintenance 1. Sweep dust mop or vacuum your floor regularly to remove any particles that could cause abrasion or scratch your floor. CAUTION: Vacuums with a beater bar or power rotary brush head can damage a floor and should never be used. 2.Apply appropriate cleaning solution to the cleaning cloth / mop. Use a cleaner specifically manufactured for hardwood flooring. Do Not Use Water or Vinegar. Do NOT apply directly to the floor. • For tougher spots, use a higher concentration of isopropyl alcohol and distilled water. • For extreme cases, a solution of nail polish remover (acetone) and distilled water can be used. HINT: For best results, clean the floor in the same direction of the planks. When the cleaning cloth/mop becomes soiled, rinse or replace it with a clean one. Following up with a clean, dry cloth will remove residual streak marks and spots. 3. Do NOT leave any amount of liquids (water, juice, soft drinks, spills, etc.) on the floor. Clean any wet spots immediately. 4. Do NOT use a steam cleaner. 5. Do NOT use a wet mop or douse floor with water or liquid cleaners. Liquid can seep between the cracks and cause moisture damage. 6. Do NOT use any cleaning agents containing wax, oil or polish. Left over residue will form a dull film. 7. Do NOT use steel wool or scouring powder which will scratch the floor. Branded or Off-the-shelf Floor Care Products • If none of the above are effective and you choose to use a store bought product, test the product in a non conspicuous area (i.e., closet, corner, or scrap pieces) for potential adverse side effects.

A: No, this is not water resistant.
A: The Malibu Wide Plank Hardwood Collection would be considered Water Resistant. If you review the definition of "water resistant" = able to resist the penetration of water to some degree but not entirely, most hardwood flooring would fall under this category, however key is how long the water, spill, liquid stays on the floor. If you spill water, drips from dishwasher, or track in water from outside etc, solution would be cleaning/drying up the spill. If you clean up the liquid within a reasonable timeline, there should be no issues. if you ever have a flooding in your home, then even though you decided to purchase a "Waterproof" flooring option, the installation would also need to be waterproof. If there is a major flood in your home, more than likely homeowners insurance would need to be involved based on monetary amount it would cost to attempt to salvage floor, do water remediation, re-install a new floor, rip out damaged floor etc. Hardwood Flooring is the flooring of choice among the majority of homeowners, is extremely durable, easy to maintain, and an excellent investment in your home.
