Answer This Question

A:  With this being a 100% Solid Floor you will have natural color variation. Hardwood samples are available online in a board width x 7" Length size; are available to order on each product listing page, under the Color/Finish and Pack Size: case or pallet, select “Need a closer look? Order a sample for $2.99 each, select your sample and add to cart. Unless multiple samples are purchased it can sometimes be challenging to see the true color from such a small sample size. The French Oak raw lumber that is used to mill the product is harvested in Europe, primarily France or Germany. This gorgeous French Oak lumber has tannins unique to the species, which allow the staining process to offer greater color depth than standard Oak flooring offers. We use character grade hardwood to meet these design specifications, which may include naturally occurring cracks, splits, knotholes, mineral streaks, filler for stability, etc. By using this grade of material we are able to enhance the natural beauty of the hardwood floor you have chosen. We highly suggest reviewing all room scenes, digital assets, reviewing store samples if available, and always order online samples available for purchase. One major influence of how the floor will look is the lighting in your home. Artificial lighting, LED daylight or natural lighting vs. Yellow Halogen/LED will change the color visual of your hardwood vs natural lighting coming through windows. The artificial lighting in your home can be one of the major influences on the color of your floor. Much the same way a can of paint applied to two different rooms (one that receives limited natural light and another that's flooded with sunshine) will look different, your flooring will have a different appearance depending on the lighting in your home. And because natural light changes in intensity, the time of day will also have an impact on the way your flooring looks. Incandescent and soft white fluorescent bulbs intensify warm colors but tend to fade cooler colors, while halogen and full-spectrum fluorescent bulbs most closely mimic the bright light of natural sunlight. Bright colors look best in bright white LED, fluorescent or halogen bulbs. Darker colors and rich textures tend to look best under accent lights and duller bulbs. Suggest experimenting with different lighting options and the pink may go away. Halo makes a great LED 6" Can retrofit with 5 Selectable temperatures from 2700-5000k.

                    Answer This Question

A:  Fastening: Use caution to avoid edge and face damage during installation. Special footer plates are available for flooring tools to protect factory finished flooring faces and edges. Use backer boards of 1/2” plywood ripped to an appropriate width to establish straight lines. Backer boards should be secured to the subfloor and carefully aligned with starter lines. Use flooring fasteners (cleat or staple) with a preferred length of 2” (plywood over concrete would be 1 1⁄2” in length) designed for solid hardwood flooring. Air pressure should be regulated so the fastener seats properly but does not split the tongue or wood below it. Nailing schedule is standard per NWFA guidelines, for plank flooring (3 1/4” or wider) the fastener schedule is every 6”- 8” along the length of the plank and 1”-3” from end joints. Refer to NWFA Installation Guidelines, Sec IV, Appendix F. Face nail only as required with 7d or 8d finish nails or cleats, 1/2” from the groove, pre- drilling the nail holes to prevent splitting. Nailing schedule is 10-12” O.C. Face nails should be counter sunk and covered by molding or properly filled. Adhesive/Fastener Installation: On wider width planks (4” and wider), combining adhesives and fasteners is an option to minimize flooring movement after installation. For best results apply a perpendicular bead of adhesive to the subfloor every 6”-8” apart for each row of flooring. Underlayment paper must be omitted when using adhesives. Use a quality urethane flooring adhesive recommended by the adhesive manufacturer for solid hardwood installations. Follow all practices recommended by the adhesive manufacturer including vapor barrier systems, adhesive temperature, room temperature and humidity, proper ventilation, spread rate, open time, safety procedures and equipment, cleanup and cure time. Avoid allowing adhesive residue to dry on the face of the flooring. Special cleaners are available (from the adhesive manufacturer) to remove any residue.
