A: Your question might be misstated. You would have to lose 13 inches to fit that opening. None the less, there is not enough wood to take an inch and a half off each side without losing integrity.

Q:Can I cut the bottom down to fit my odd height of 6'-2" opening? Even though it is hollow core? Or is the bottom rail of door solid core?

A: Hello Christoph, It is not recommended to trim any amount on these doors as it will void warranty and possibly compromise the integrity of the door construction.

A: Hello jd, The finished opening for 2 of these doors would need to be 71-1/2" x 80-3/4". This door would not fit into this opening. Please contact a Home Depot millwork specialist in-store for special order options and availability of this door in the size you need by giving them your finished opening.

A: That's perhaps five-eighths of an inch off each side. That may expose the hollow core or leave a thin veneer on the edges. Drill some pilot holes on the bottom to determine how much solid wood you are working with if you wish to continue with this product. I cut mine at the base to fit and it is open; but, no one can see it.
