A:  As long as you don't have to cut too much off the bottom, it should hold up. The structure that holds the bottom mount is only a couple of inches and will have to be carefully rebuilt if too much is removed. Otherwise, I use it as a pantry door that is opened multiple times per day with no issues. One caution is that the door folds inside the door opening. With the gap needed to open/close and the thickness of the doors, there is likely about 5" of door space used. That would leave only 25" to pass through in a 30" opening.

A:  Thank you, abc and all for your feedback. Tell me, is the bottom hardware to be attached to the floor? Can it be adapted and attached to the wall? And would such mechanics work? I ask because the floor is tile. (Just put in, before we realized we wanted a door!) Thank you.

A:  The short answer is No, Kathy. A 36" x 80" door will be smaller than your 39" x 80" opening. Since the doors are bi-fold, and are mounted on an upper track, they'll open into the room (not the closet) and move to the outside. A solution may be to split the 3" space difference equally between the 2 outside edges, and "frame" your outside opening with molding, being sure to come in the extra 1 1/2" on each side - thereby eliminating your 3" difference.

A:  Hello Kathy, I apologize but this door would not fit. Please contact a Home Depot millwork specialist in-store for special order options and availability of this door in the size you would need by providing your finished opening to the retailer.

A:  Hello Stephanie, This is for a bifold unit so there will be two doors attached together with bifold hinges for one opening of 36".

A:  Yes, the overall width is 36''.

A:  This product has two 18" panels that extend to 36" when closed. If I understand this correctly, you would need 2 sets of these (1 per side). Hope that answers your question.

A:  Hello LeeMcA, This door will be exactly 29-1/2" x 79". Unfortunately, any trimming of bifold doors will void the warranty so we do not recommend it.

A:  This door measures 29-1/2 inches by 79 inches and it is not recommended to trim.

A:  Door is exactly 29.5” x 79”. I wouldn’t cut anything off it bc then won’t look proportional with the insets. Also it’s hollow which would make it extremely flimsy.
