Q:I am venting an oven hood insert directly up through the roof. Is 5' the longest? Am I supposed to just get a few different lengths and tape them together to get the length I want?

Answer This Question
A: 5" lengths ae the longest we manufacture. Check the installation instructions for the proper procedure on venting the hood. Typically the sections need to be screwed and sealed at all joints and seams, the local codes may vary. If you have any inquiries about Master Flow products please email warrantyllbp@gaf.com

Answer This Question
A: Depends on where the vent goes. If it is in an attic that gets cold you need a tape rated for the cold weather. Other wise a quality tape like a 324A Premium Foil or Foilmastic Sealant Duct Tape should work you still need 3 fasteners to a joint though.

A: no, tape is great for this. Make sure you don't use the cheap lowest grade stuff though as it will tear and leak, buy the higher end stuff(just a few more bucks) so you don't have to do it again

A: No, the aluminum tape should be sufficient to hold it in place.

A: It would depend on the local code. Always seal seams with building code approved sealant or duct tape

A: No. The aluminum tape should be more than adequate.

Answer This Question
A: There is special pipe called a "B" vent that Home Depot sells. An example is Model #4PVL-24 and it has a double wall to keep the outer surface cool.
There are also special collars to be used where it goes thru the walls to prevent setting fire to the wood, such as Model# CC4. Be careful, in some states such as where I live in Massachusetts it is illegal for homeowners to do that work because of carbon monoxide risks.

A: It would be to hot, this is 30 gauge pipe and it is not recommended to use as an exhaust.
