A: The 8” caster wheels shown with the questions should only be used on hard (concrete, etc.) level ground and no higher than two levels high. Leveling jacks are height adjustable on each of the four corners to compensate for uneven ground which allows you to completely level and square the scaffold frame. You should use wood “pads” (like a 12-15” 2”x10”) under the jack bases to avoid scraping the cement or digging into the dirt while you are working. MetalTech recommends a single 2”x10” board long enough to connect the scaffold sides lengthwise and extend 6”-12” beyond the jack bases. So, for a 5’x7’ scaffold you would need two 8.5’ x 2”x10”. Their recommendation works well on level or evenly sloped ground. The four pads I use work well when there are obstacles or the ground is uneven (like one corner is over the second step down of my basement entrance). The key is you want each of the four corners to be solid and secure. Really uneven ground can require minor construction, cement blocks, etc. for a solid base. Check them often when working. Do a web search for “metaltech scaffolding video” or go toto www.metaltech.com. They provide decent educational info.

A: First, leveling jacks are not the wheels shown. I use 2 ea. 2"x10"x10' timbers to nail the leveling jacks to after leveling. I use the same size timbers for scaffolding decking. I use one nail per leg bent over. This keeps the legs in place and the jacks from turning.

A: contact the manufacturer to explain that.

A: That question doesn’t relate to this product. These casters are designed to roll scaffolding around on flat surfaces. The leveling jacks are for setting up scaffolding on an uneven surface and nailing them to beams would be something to give the scaffolding a better footing.

A: It's going to depend where you are installing the scaffolding. For indoor scaffolding installation, I use the caster wheels once the scaffolding is in position on a level surface; then you lock the wheels with the levers. I have used the adjustable leveling jacks (sold separately) when I need to do rooftop work outdoors. The ground is not completely level so the adjustable jacks are perfect; each jack is positioned at one of the four corners of the scaffolding and I use a level on the scaffolding to determine how far to advance each leveling arm. Once set, the weight of the scaffolding appears to "lock" the adjustable arm in place and I've never had the arms move in several years of owning the MetalTech scaffolding gear. So in my case, the adjustable leveling jacks rest right on the grassy surface and don't sink in at all. I could be wrong, but when MetalTech says "..... nailed on beams are advised" might mean that you could mount the scaffolding on several horizontal wood beams or planks at ground level to spread out the weight loading so that the adjustable jacks don't sink at the corners. The adjustable jack has 4 holes where you could nail them down to a wood surface. I am just a residential homeowner, not a professional, so I am speculating about their statement. I would give MetalTech a call to get this cleared up. Their support is top notch in my opinion.

A: We have been very satisfied with these wheels. We have used them on concrete, over gravel and rough rocks, through mud and clay. We have a double stack of the scaffolding and these wheels performed well even with the extra weight. We also purchased a set of four adjustable feet which are very handy if your terrain is unlevel.

A: Yes. They will support the weight of the scaffold on grass or gravel as long as long as the surface is stable. I would not recommend rolling tall sections of scaffold around on grass or gravel or any uneven surface.

A: Yes they will work on grass and gravel. You may need some help rolling it around they were easy to install and I’ve been a blessing to me it makes it a lot easier moving

A: I would not recommend using scaffolding with wheels on grass or gravel without plywood or something similar under the wheels. Best bet would be take the wheels off and set the scaffolding on 2" lumber.

A: Hi Oscar. On the website or app it will give you shipping times and shipping options. For these casters the app tells me they can be shipped to arrive at my house by June fifth. I am only given one shipping option, but I live in the sticks so I'd expect your shipping options and speed to be a little better. On the app the shipping timeframe is on the add-to-cart button.
