Q:can these drill in wrought iron
    by|May 19, 2020

    Answer This Question

A:  Yes they can, but as you may already know, iron is something hard to work with. You may need to begin with a pilot hole and work your way up to the size you need. You may find benefit using a drop of oil at the end of the bit while drilling.

A:  If you are going to drill a hole in stucco (which is masonry) you should use a masonry bit. These titanium bits are good, but stucco will dull them prematurely and make then useless for other projects except maybe soft wood. Masonry bits are cheaper than titanium and are the proper tool for stucco so save yourself come money and use the right tool.

A:  I have used these for many projects around the farm but you need to be very careful drilling into stucco as it can crack. If you must try then I suggest you try using a slow speed and slowly increase the size of the drill bit.

A:  You could probably make a few holes before the bit becomes dull. If I had a lot of holes to drill in stucco, I would use a masonry bit.

Q:How far into the wood can I drill? I would like the bit to extend 6 inches beyond the drill, for the 1/4 inch size (so I can get through 2 3 inch diameter pieces of bamboo that are lashed together - they're hollow, but I need to be able to penetrate the far side of the second piece so I can shove an oak dowel through both pieces). If I could could reach through 7 inches that would be perfect.

A:  You can drill as far as the length of the drill bit allows. A smarter option is to buy a 1/8" extra long bit (like electricians use) and drill a pilot hole through both pieces first, then finish the hole to 1/4" by drilling from both sides using the 1/8" pilot hole as a reference.

A:  This quarter inch bit only extends 3.5 inches from my drill motor when inserted. You might instead take a look at a quarter inch spade style bit. They are often packaged singly and come in various longer lengths.

A:  these are good drill bits but if you need to drill in 7 inches I suggest you see what is available either in an extension for the bits or longer drill bits--drill slowly into bamboo as it can crack.

A:  Im not sure that the the individual drill bits are on the web site. The individual drill bits that I saw in the store that were Milwaukee brand were the standard bits, and did NOT have the speed bit ends on them. If you want the speed bit ends, then your going to have to buy the whole set.
