A: No it doesn’t
A: No it does not in this unit
A: No. The hook kit is not included; but I sure recommend the rack.
A: I dont believe this comes with the hook kit
A: There is option that comes with hooks. It cost more.
A: I’m assuming you are referring to the hooks that hang from the bottom. If so, it does not come with the hook kit.
A: Hello,Thank you for your respective inquiry. Hooks are not part of VersaRac Kit , However it can be purchased separately. It is available on Home depot website with Model # 40191. A: This is a life saver for space in a house with no storage space so I bought 2
A: The flat cages hang over and wrap around the end and side rails.
A: You don't expand. The flat wire shelves fit over the top of the 48" frame so they need to be longer than the frame. They fit fine as they are designed.
A: The box isn’t huge, it’s abou 2ft,4ft, 6” and it is heavy but manageable
A: If I remember right it a aprox. 4ft by 4ft box and it weighed about 75#
A: 2 FT X 4 FT need to people to lift and move, 1 person can slide it around
A: The box can be a little heavy, but I was able to get three in one car and two in my other.
A: Hello Ismack, Thank you for your inquiry. The dimensions of the package is 53" W x 28" D x 5" H and weight of the product is 91.5lbs. If you have any further questions feel free to email us or call us at 1-877-306-8930 (Option 1) and we would be more than happy to assist you.
A: Yes these will work as long as you get a screw into the beam and they are at the correct distance. Good luck. I truly love mine.
A: Yes. It'll probably make installation much easier than having to locate the ceiling joists through drywall. Make sure the dimensions work with your joist spacing. Mine were 24 inches on center, as are most, just double check.
A: Yes, it needs to be mounted to the trusses/beams so it has support. Drywall wouldn’t support the weight, so even with a finished ceiling you would still need to mount it where the trusses are.
A: Yes, it will actually make mounting it even easier as you will not have to search for the beams to bolt it into.
A: Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. The Versarac can be installed into wooden joists. If you have any further questions feel free to email us or call us at 1-877-306-8930 (Option 1) and we would be more than happy to assist you.
A: Yes, it actually needs to be attached to the rafters per installation instructions
A: Yes. It will be even easier to install in my opinion. since you don't have to look for beams.
A: That should be no problem, just make sure you use the proper screws, I think some came with the package but I upgraded heaver screws to make sure it holds to the rafters.
A: Yes. They can be adjusted in length (4', 6', and 8'). Distance from ceiling can be adjusted in 1" increments from 18" to 36".
A: Most important is DO NOT EXCEED the weight limit. Best for using as shelf because rack is 42" in vertical measurement. But if you have room, items may be suspended from rack.
A: Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. The versarac rack is meant to hang off a ceiling, but they are stationary. If you have any further questions, feel free to email us or call us at 1-877-306-8930 (Option 1), and we would be more than happy to assist you.
A: I can not think of a way to use them other than hanging. They are solid and "stationary" in a hanging position.
A: The rack itself could but you would need to make sure that the support beams can handle the load structural wise. Usually 500 to 600 pound capacity load. You need to make sure you get the support screws that hold the racks in the center part of the wood beams above for a secure fit and holding ability.
A: Hello Shamalama, Thank you for your inquiry. Yes, it can hold a side of beef as long as it is within the weight capacity. If you have any further questions feel free to email us or call us at 1-877-306-8930 (Option 1) and we would be more than happy to assist you.
A: As long as your side of beef doesn't weigh more than the listed load (500 lbs) you should be okay. I can't imagine you wanting to suspend a side of beef in a garage so I assume you will use it in a walk-in freezer. In that case make sure the ceiling of your freezer has supports capable of handling the required screw fasteners.
A: No, this can't hold a side of beef.
A: I don’t remember approximate weight of a side of beef- but if installed properly, it easily holds me (250 lbs. I have it attached to ceiling rafters and wall studs.
A: The box is just slightly bigger than the 48X42 measurements. Hint: the front and rear side beams get bolted together to make the 96 inch length.
A: Hi Jeff, My recollection along with looking at the component dimensions is that the box is 48" long by 24" wide and about 5" deep. All the components are 24 x 48 or 48 long, so they are bundled tighly in a thick carboard container. It is very heavy! Best to have UPS put it in your garge and open it on the floor. Once you get the components separated they are easy to maneuver around and put together. This was my second one and I love it! HLS
A: 4’ X 2’ X 3”
A: Hello Jeff, Thank you for your inquiry. The carton dimensions for the Versarac is 53"W x 28"D x 4.25"H. If you have any further questions feel free to email us or call us at 1-877-306-8930 (Option 1) and we would be more than happy to assist you.
A: About 51" x 48" Jeff
A: No, 4x8 sheets will not fit. The inside distance between the vertical support angles is only 45".
A: No,the 4x8 foot sheets will not fit without cutting. The brackets on the corners intrude into the platform by about 1+ inches in each dimension.
A: The corner braces are angle irons so you are correct, the braces would prevent you from putting full sized sheets on the platform. But if you modified two of the braces, like I did, you could make it work. I hammered two of the braces to make the "L channel" flat and then mounted them on the ends instead of on the front side. You'd have to use another clamping piece to connect the end and the front edge too but that was easy for me.Good luck.
A: The distance between the uprights is 45 inches in the short and 92 inches in the long. So unless you put them crosswise your sheets won't fit.
A: Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. It is designed to fit 4 x 8 sheets as an added surface, corners supports do not interfere. If you have any further questions feel free to email us or call us at 1-877-306-8930 (Option 1) and we would be more than happy to assist you.
A: Yes it is. Finding the studs then securing the footer then attaching them arms then the shelf. Shouldn’t take more than an hour depending on how hard your studs are to find.
A: It depends on who would do it. For a low-experienced or new DIYer, it could be challenging if the ceiling studs aren't exposed. If exposed, it's just screwing the brackets to them and attaching the legs and rack as in the instructions. If not exposed, then you have to be sure you drive the screws through the sheetrock/wallboard into the studs. But then, if you look at the photo of the rack and have to ask how easy to install, then maybe it would be safer to hire someone. Improperly attached rack would probably tear out and collapse on someone or something in pretty short order.
A: It's pretty east with two guys. Follow instructions and watch the video. Once you find the studs, you can have it done in 2.5-3 hours pretty easy.
A: I am fairly handy, installed myself. If the ceiling joists are exposed, very easy install. Otherwise a stud finder is useful to help with installation as you definitely want to anchor this into wood, not drywall!.
A: A qualified very easy. Once you locate the ceiling joists it is very, very easy. If you have not purchased a stud finder recently please consider investing in one to properly located the ceiling joists. The reliability of stud finders have improved tremendously over the years.
A: Installation takes planning and some skill finding the studs/beams and drilling. Actual assembly went very well for me thanks to planning the separate steps in terms of where to locate ladder, parts, etc. I was working alone, but I think if I could have worked with a partner we would have finished in less than half the time.
A: Dear Anonymous, I bought and installed two of these racks. I can tell you from that experience that it will take a lone, unaided installer about two hours to install one. You'll have to locate the ceiling joists exactly and drill them for the bracket screws (the most critical part of a successful installation). Then the assembly is rather easy. The heaviest parts are the long cross pieces that need to be bolted together. I suggest that you have a portable electric drill with bits and socket wrench attachment for drilling the joist holes, driving in the big screws and tightening the bolts. Believe me I'm 73 and it was not challenging for me. Alternatively you could seek a handyman through "Angie's List" or another homeowner help locating service. Or you could just ask your neighbor for the use of her husband for an afternoon!
A: Very easy if you are a bit handy. Need tape measure, drill and some wrenches. A socket set will make it go faster. The only difficult part is getting the rectangle at 90 degree corners for the down rods. The rest is straight forward andd the directions are very good. HLS
A: Yes . I have 14 foot ceilings in my garage and I installed them by myself.
A: Hello, Thank you for your inquiry. The VarsaRac needs to be installed into your ceiling joists/wall beams (cannot be installed into engineered joists or steel beams). If your joist spacing is not 48", 72" or 96" apart than you need to span a joist hanger. If your ceiling is finished with drywall, installing a joist with joist hangers will require cutting a hole in the drywall. If you have any further questions feel free to email us or call us at 1-877-306-8930 (Option 1) and we would be more than happy to assist you.

A: Yes. The height bars are in 2 pieces which bolt together. They are 27 inches in length. So minimum height would be 27 inches. Keep in mind the side rails will take up 3 inches of your height, so at 30 inches in height would leave you 27 inches of storage height.
A: Yes, in one and a half inch increments.
A: Yes, the vertical hangers are a 2 piece construction that I s double stacked with multi hole bolt up. I raised mine slightly for head space reasons
A: Yes, the height can vary I believe starting at 18".
A: Yes. It comes with both 18 and 27 inch vertical supports. You can bolt them together to get a lower rack, or use one or the other to get a taller rack. I installed using just the 27" vertical supports, which provides 24" of storage above the 3" frame. You should be able to do the same and clear your garage door by 3".
A: I ordered and installed the HD Versa Rack and I am puzzled about the 42" dimension? The rack I installed employs eight 18" angle sections that function as hangers. These angle pieces need to be overlapped and bolted together and as such, they can be overlapped as much or as little as you need or want. If you are really cramped for space I suppose you could eliminate four of them and just hang the rack from one 18" section en each corner. There are 35 inches of clearance to a 10'3" ceiling in my install.
A: Yes, you can adjust the height. My is adjusted to 27 inches.
A: Yes, you will just need to measure the drop metal angle iron to the length you want them to be then cut them off with a hacksaw.
A: Yes. Height is adjustable. 42 inches is max height.
