A:  I was having to many problems with the storage drive and play back, returned within a month.

A:  Night Owl's wired cameras are intended for indoor and outdoor use. When installing the cameras outside, we recommend placing them under some type of minimal protection such as an eave or awning. The cameras are weather-resistant, not waterproof (meaning they cannot be submerged under water). If they are overexposed to the elements it will reduce their lifespan. A:  No! The internet is what connects the cameras to the hard drive storage.

A:  The system uses a private network to connect the cameras to the recorder. You can connect the recorder to a TV/Monitor to view your cameras. You cannot use the App without Internet.

A:  Good afternoon. Remote viewing is optional with this system. You can locally view the system from a TV or monitor if desired. To view the system from your smartphone or tablet, you will need to download our free mobile app and sign in using your Night Owl Protect credentials. A valid email is required to use the app, as that is what is used should you need to perform a password reset. No other personal information is required or asked for and the information and data is for your eyes only, no one elses. Thank you for considering Night Owl!

A:  You can use the system without the app on your phone so that would be a no to intrusive information needed. I don’t know how the app would be too intrusive. You set up an account and add your self to the security network. Seems like the only info I provided was the phone number and email which a simple google search will provide anyone with that level of info. You can create a Special email just for the account with no phone numbers or private information in it. No fees for the recording of the system as long as you don’t set up the cloud storage and it has a 1gb dvr so you won’t have to have access to the cloud for storage. In fact once the setup is completed you can unplug the system from internet (if you can live without the app on your phone.) I must say it is nice to get the notifications on the phone instantaneously.

A:  These cameras do not use so cards, the 1tb storage is in the video recorder itself, cameras are strictly wireless, (they need 110-120 volt power supply) all storage happens at the hard drive storage that is connected to a tv or monitor. A:  Yes, under should be fine. What's important is what obstacles are located between the Wi-Fi NVR and cameras. Any metal or concrete walls or obstacles may heavily impede the signal strength, thus reducing the max range of 300 ft. and affecting the connectivity. So take that into account when determining whether a wireless or wired system would be better for your environment. Thank you!
