Q:Do these ant stoppers last more than one season, if taken in during the winter ? Linda

      Answer This Question

A:  Technically yes, but the plastic gets brittle over time. We have our feeders out all year, but to prevent broken feeders - yes, it has happened twice- when these traps break, we replace them every year.

A:  We recommend replacing the Ant Guard each season.

A:  No. They need to be changed once a year

A:  Yes, they keep the ants out for many seasons. The plastic hooks tend to become brittle and break after a year or more. So be careful not to stress them. If they break, I just drill a hole and replace them with wire or string.

A:  I leave them outside (in southern California) and they last several years, usually until the plastic housing breaks. Great simple product.

A:  It just keeps them from getting to feeder. No harm.

A:  This product repels ants away from the feeder. It does not kill them.

A:  No it doesn’t harm them, just deters. I’ve been using this for years and for the most part it does the job. I’ve had ants get around them but very rarely.

A:  I have never seen dead ants underneath my feeder but this does contain a chemical deterrent that works really well for keeping ants out of the feeder. I've used this type for many years with success.

A:  I can’t say positively since Perky Pet calls it an ant guard, but in my experience it has kept bees and wasps away. I haven’t had trouble with either one since I started using these several years ago.

A:  No, they are still bothering or chasing the birds all around the feeder. Great show but tough for the birds. Actually have one bird that chases the bees.

A:  No, it only works to keep ants and crawling insects out of hummingbird and similar feeders.

A:  Permethrin is designed to repel ants. This substance is encased in the plastic dome on the ant guard for long lasting protection.

A:  I think you mean permethrin, which is a repellant safe for animals and people at these very low concentrations. This guard has permethrin.

A:  The chemical is in the top of the container, The ants have to cross the chemical to get down to the feeder. It's very effective.

A:  It is reusable. However, the sun's UV rays will weaken the plastic and it will break after about two years, causing the feeder to drop to the ground.
