Q:After installation, Noticing that the faucet head has to be pushed in to the base every time and doesn't attach automatically. Is that by design or is my piece defective?

A: It is not magnetic, so you do have to manually seat the head into the spout. Not a defect, just a nuisance.

A: Yes most definitely. I have a 33" sink that 9" deep and it reaches from one side to the other.
