A: Yes I beleave it does.

A: The Porter Cable nailer accepts strips of 16 gauge nails. These nails are headless and need to be filled before finishing. It does not accept individual brads.

A: Gauge. Yes
by|Jan 9, 2022
A: Porter calls their 16-gauge nailer a "finish" nailer. It takes 16 gauge "finish" nails. I think Porter uses "brad" for their 18-gauge nailer. The nails come in packages that usually make it clear what brand and nailer they are for.

A: Hello PapaJack, there is a T-shaped opening at the rear of the magazine and that is where you will insert the finish nails. There is a pusher (lever) on the left side of the magazine, pull it all the way to the rear of the magazine and release. The spring loaded pusher will move the nails forward into firing position.
Manual instructions:
Insert fasteners into the rear of the magazine (E).
3. Pull pusher (G) back until the nail follower falls behind the nails

A: I’m fortunate to have a great pneumatic tool repair and parts business within an hour, but PartsDirect, eReplacementparts, partswarehouse, and similar large vendors on the internet have good reputations for selection, turnaround time, and shipping. Good luck in your home shop!

Answer This Question
A: Yes, this can be used for fences.

A: Yes.
by|Apr 4, 2020
A: This nailer would be good for attaching TRIM elements to a fence structure, but for the fence itself, you’d need a “framing nailer” with collated nails between 2-3.5-inch in length to attach 2x4s to 4x4 or 6x6 posts i.e. structural elements of the fence.

A: I never used in fence but you can try..but this pneumatic brand name is not the sharpest pencil of the box.

A: It depends on what section of the fence you are working on. I used this gun and 16 guage nails to nail stiles into rails before securing the "prefabed" sections into posts. It made the job very easy. The sections have held up for more than 12 years. I found the nailer useful for all sorts of projects....in particular where screws or 16p commons would not look nice. I have to believe using the nailer on a traditional rail fence would work as well...but so do deck screws. Note: I do not own a contractor's nailing gun.
Sadly the nailer finally died on me and had to get a replacement.
