Q:Does this earth auger unit require two batteries to operate? And can I buy it "tool only" without the battery and charger combo?

A:  Hi MrSR. Thank you for shopping at The Home Depot. According to Ridgid Customer Service, the “Tool Only” version is not an option from Rigid.                     Q:How many holes will this dig with fully charged batteries. I realize soil is a factor so maybe you could list several soils and number holes drilled. I am particularly interested in VA clay.

                    A:  Just used this to dig post holes in Tucson caliche. Was able to do 7 holes pretty quickly using only 25% of two fully charged 6 ah batteries.
