Q:The center bushing keeps popping out what is it used for? and do I need it?

Answer This Question

A:  Some older saws used a diamond shape piece for the blade to fit into, newer saws use just the saw's round arbor. Once the blade is tightened down properly the insert should not pop out. If it does then return the blade for a new one.

A:  The center bushing acts as an adapter. Not all tools have the same size arbor/spindle. If the tool has a 5/8" arbor/spindle then you will want to leave the bushing in so that the blade fits tightly to the arbor. If the tool has a 7/8" arbor then you will need to remove the bushing for the blade to fit on the tool.

A:  I used it to cut 1.25" granite. do a thin score cut of 1/4" first for a guide then go deeper. Use a trickle of water to cool the blade for best results.

Q:Can you use this blade with a Ridgid Circular Saw or Ridgid Worm Drive Saw to dry cut 16x8x4 Concrete Blocks (SKU #559041)? And if so how many passes to cut thru 4 inches of material thickness? I know that special care must be used to clear the motor of concrete dust after such use to prevent accelerated motor wear. I need to do this to fill out a herringbone paving pattern.

A:  I doubt you can get all the way thru a 4" block but you could get deep enough to be sure where it will finish "cracking off". Do a short depth score cut first to establish a good line, maybe 1/4" at most then you have a good guide for deeper cuts of 1/2" to 3/4" advancing cuts.

A:  Thank you for contacting RIDGID. I'm sorry, this blade is not designed for the type of application you are describing.

          by|May 3, 2023

A:  I would not think it would give you a very fine cut. The diamonds in this blade are too coarse to give you a clean cutting edge. I do not know if the matrix the diamonds are in would stand up to cutting carbide. The matrix is very important when using diamonds and varies greatly with the intended use. It has to be the right hardness to wear away at the correct rate to keep the diamonds on the surface renewed as they wear down and get dull. New diamonds must be exposed as the older ones get dull. If it is too soft the blade wears out very quickly, too hard and the blade doesn't cut very well after breaking in.

A:  No. I used a "Saws-all" with a metal blade to cut out my steel tub. Wear your ear plugs. For cast iron, big hammer is all you need.

A:  Thank you for your interest in RIDGID! The blade cutting depth might not be enough to cut the bath tub wall in one pass. Regards, RIDGID

A:  I would buy a blade specific to the material you want to cut. I imagine your tub is either cast iron or fiberglass which would be an inappropriate application for this blade. Try an abrasive blade for cast iron and an all purpose blade on a reciprocating saw for fiberglass

A:  Cast iron tub: safety glasses, ear plugs and 10# sledge. Stamped steel or fiberglass:reciprocating saw with a bi-metal blade.
