A: Yes. We installed ours directly on concrete as a pre-layer to laminate flooring.

A: Good day,
The Unison 2-in1 underlayment is meant to be used in conjunction with floating floor applications. If your flooring warranty mandates that you use a 6 mil poly film barricade, you would place the poly film barricade directly over the concrete subfloor, and then lay the Unison 2 in 1 over the poly film barricade.

Q:It's installed on the first floor of town home that is above garage in Los Angeles area (fairly stable climate conditions). I wanted to use another Roberts product that has silicon semi permeable vapor bareer but I am afraid that other Roberts product will be too noisy. Bleck felt paper is out of question due to VOC concerns.

Answer This Question
A: Thank you for your inquiry. No, Unison is specifically designed for use under floated laminate and engineered wood flooring. Considering you will be installing on the first floor, the SVS product(Model # 70-198) may be the product best suited for your installation needs. It is ideal for staple and nail down installations, reduces vapor flow without trapping moisture and contributes to noise reduction. Thank you for considering Roberts as your source for installation products and information.

A: That is the same thing I'm doing with this product. It's always better to protect your flooring from any moisture for longevity of the flooring. It will also help with sound proofing so you won't hear footsteps as loud. I would definitely recommend using this product. This is the lowest price I have found and I shopped around. It's as good as blue hawk Underlayment if not better, and ten dollars lower per 100 square feet.

A: Technically, I'm not certain if you need it. However, I would recommend it as it also acts as a cushion and a noise barrier. Laminate is hard surface and a barrier like this will muffle footsteps. And, since a laminate floor "floats" I think it is a good idea to have something soft under it.
