A:  I think your Ryobi is not ready for full speed right after cranking. Go easy on the trigger, it should run full speed within a short time.

A:  I think the problem is that it's a Ryobi. I bought one and returned it to the store because it wouldn't run, The Home Depot replaced it. I brought that one home but didn't try it for several months and it ran just fine for a few times until I shut it off one day while using it and it quit. I didn't bother returning this one, just decided not to buy anymore Ryobi products. I've had real good luck in the past with their products ,recently not so much and I won't be buying another or recommending them to anyone.
