A:  Hi Dennis. Thank you for shopping at The Home Depot. You could use an 18” bar with this chainsaw but you would not want to do it. You would be severely under powering your 14” chainsaw. The 5.0-amp battery may power the 18” bar but you will use up your battery power much faster. The power used is designed for a 14” bar but it will work for a larger/longer bar. A:  I use a 6Ah 40V pack in mine. Never had any issues.

A:  Yes, the case is included. It holds a quart or bar oil as well (not included). The case is surprisingly well-designed, there is a cool little flip door to open to allow the blade to dropped into the case and be removed again easily. It's quite durable heavy plastic as well.
