A:  Yes, all Ryobi one+ batteries are compatible with old and new model tools.

A:  Forgot to mention, only SOME tools have the extra contacts to take advantage of High Performance batteries. For example, fans and lights don't. Brushless impact driver does. Attached photo, battery on right has extra contact at stem base and tool connect.

A:  The PBP005 are not High Performance which means they lack the extra contacts on the battery stem. The HP PBP004 and other HP (High Performance) batteries are supposed to put out more watts and have smother power output due to those extra contacts.

A:  I get what you are saying here... and while this marketing might have a bit too much hype, in my experience it really depends on the kind of load as to whether the fancier and more expensive batteries will last longer with the same specs.

A:  I was in love with the impact ryobi I had before I got this one I lost it and decided to get a new one and this one is so much better less noisy and just as powerful works great definitely satisfied with my purchase.

The amp hour does detemine the run time so the higher the amp hour the longer the run time will be. A:  I have both, but the adjustable one lets let me use less force on small screws to keep from over tightening them

A:  The difference is the Assist Mode on PBLID02. It really helps both starting and removing fasteners. When driving, it starts out slow and then speeds all the way up to 2,900 RPM. Removing a screw in the A-Mode, the driver will pulse 6 times, and then speed up to finish the removal of the screw.

A:  The one + hp ,18 - volt has different drive speeds. The only thing that i wish it had was a place for a extra bits.

A:  The 4-mode tool has a selector for modes 1, 2, 3, and A. The "A" (Assist mode) is really useful both for driving and removing fasteners. In "A" mode, the forward speed (screw in) starts slow and increases. In the backward (unscrew) mode, it pulses a few times to start backing out the fastener/nut/screw then engages fully. The other 3 modes are low, medium and high speed. By the way, all of these "HP" models are theoretically designed to take advantage of the HP (High Performance) batteries with additional contacts, but this tool doesn't have matching contacts to read the battery... so the HP designation seems to be marketing fluff.

A:  Yes non-HP batteries work just fine. In fact, the tool doesn't have the additional contacts that would theoretically be required to take advantage of an HP battery. It appears to be marketing fluff that is designed to make you buy HP batteries at more than twice the price of the non HP battery.
