Q:I have a 1000 sf attic with no soffit vents. It has small gable and ridge vents. I have a lot of insulation on the attic floors, especially over the kitchen and bathroom. Will this be overkill?

      Answer This Question

A:  It definitely would not be overkill. However, you need some kind of soffit vent. You need to figure out how to get fresh air in down near your eaves to replace the hot air the fan is pulling out.

Q:So I have ridge vents, and soffit vents. f I mount this like 3-4 foot down from the highest point (5 foot ridge vent) will it suck air in from the ridge vent vs pulling in fresh air from the soffit vents? Concerned it will only circulate air from ridge

        Answer This Question

A:  We get this question a lot. If you mount the fan 4 feet down from your ridge vent, you should be fine. You can also put some cardboard or plywood to cover up about 5 feet of the ridge vent up near the fan to keep the air from back flowing in.

Q:Do you need the wifi kit in order for fan to run? or just for additional stats?

              Answer This Question

A:  The Wi-Fi is completely optional. If you want to be able to change your thermostat or humidistat settings, using your phone, then the Wi-Fi adapter is the only way to do that. However, it’s completely optional in the factory settings will keep your attic cool out of the box.

A:  You don?t actually want to cross ventilate. These fans are pretty powerful and would end up pulling air in through the ridge vent essentially cancelling them out. Depending on how many linear feet of ridge vent you have that should be enough.
