A:  Hello, Wheen running your condensate drain, Rheem recommends starting with threading a 3/4" NPT PVC "Tee" to the condensate port located on the side of the water heater. One of the open ends of the "Tee" provides an opening for yearly inspection and cleaning while the opening pointed downward will have 3/4" PVC tube attached to drain down and out to a suitable drain location. Laying it on its side can potentially damage internal components, such as the heat pump and electrical connections. A:  Jim, CFM calculations are not configured on the Hybrid Water Heating models due to the minimal amount of air flow being produced in comparison to an hvac system. Since the primary function of a Hybrid water heater is to heater water, a CFM calculation is not specified. CFM calculations would generally be needed in an hvac system due to the fact that air flow is needed to cool or heat a specific space, and that is the primary design of said system. A:  David, The hybrid water heaters use proprietary software to ensure the water heater operates at peak efficiency.  The heater uses an algorithm to determine when the unit should begin a heating cycle.  A typical heating cycle is caused due to a sudden drop in temperature at the bottom of the tank when the hot water is being used and the incoming water temperature is much cooler than the water in the tank.  Because a recirculation returns warmer and sometimes hot temperatures back to the water heater, it can act against the programming of the hybrid unit as the inlet water temperature may not be cool enough to activate a heating cycle.  This conflict often renders running the unit in Energy Saver mode ineffective and other higher power consumption modes will need to be utilized instead.  We hope this helps. A:  No it does not have a recirculation pump built in. Yes one can be installed. I installed one on mine.

A:  It doesn't have a recirculation pump. Heater shouldn't care if you are recirculating or using a tap & recirc can save as much as 1K gal per person annually. Good for drought-stricken areas, not so good for electric bill. Insulate your pipes & use a timer.
