A:  Hi Mano and thank you for your question. The electrical connections are under the junction box, located on top of the unit,

    by|Sep 1, 2024

A:  There is a single 220 connection on the unit, no separation of power between the heat pump and tank elements.

      by|Sep 5, 2024

A:  No. It uses the existing wires from the old water heater.

Q:I see that this unit requires a double pole 30 amp breaker with 10awg wire. Does it require a neutral and a ground also?

A:  That was a good question to NOT get an answer to. He just asked if it needs a neutral wire. That’s the white wire. I believe we all know that it’s 240 volts but does it need the neutral to function correctly?

            by|Aug 31, 2024

A:  Hi Joel and thank you for your question. A separate branch circuit with copper conductors, overcurrent protective device and suitable disconnecting means must be provided by a qualified electrician. All wiring must conform to local codes or latest edition of National Electrical Code ANSI/NFPA 70. The water heater is completely wired to the junction box inside jacket at the top front of the water heater. An opening for 1/2 in. or 3/4 in. electrical fitting is provided for field wiring connections. The voltage requirements and wattage load for the water heater are specified on the rating plate on the front of the water heater. The branch circuit wiring should include either: Metallic conduit or metallic sheathed cable approved for use as a grounding conductor and installed with fittings approved for the purpose. Non-metallic sheathed cable, metallic conduit or metallic sheathed cable not approved for use as a ground conductor shall include a separate conductor for grounding. It should be attached to the ground terminals of the water heater and the electrical distribution box.

A:  No neutral. If grounding is news to you, you should probably hire an electrician. "A ground connection must be completed before making line voltage connections. Failure to do so can result in electrical shock, severe personal injury or death."

Q:1: Noise rating - How Loud is it? 2: Can it be used in a Hydronic Heating System - such as an AquaTherm? 3: What is the Hybrid equivalent of a 60k btuh Gas Unit? Calling Rheem seems impossible, and an installer gets confused at AquaTherm, please answer

                  Answer This Question

A:  Hi KenTheEskimo and thank you for your question. The noise level will vary based on the application, location and installation. We do not recommend it for Hydronic Heating Systems. Unfortunately, Rheem does not manufacture a Hybrid that is equivalent to 60K btuh.

                  by|Aug 6, 2024

A:  AquaTherm would be more like a heat pump tankless water heater, no? 1 BTU/hr = 0.00029307107 kW. So the power conversion of BTU IT /hr to kW is given by the formula: P (kW) = P (BTU/hr) / 3412.142. So 60k BTU =17.6kw

Q:Will a 50 gallon platinum hybrid water heater fit inside a 24inch galvanized shed? I ask because it looks like the pictures provide just the tank dimensions and I assume the various connections will require more space.
