A: I have the bridge for inside bulbs and I don’t recall if I needed it with this light. It will say on Box if you need bridge.
A: Hello Jlusk80, A Ring Bridge is required to connect the Smart Lighting Floodlight Wired to your Ring App. The Ring Bridge is the central point for connecting all Ring Smart Lighting products. It enables smart lighting control from anywhere using the Ring app and lets Ring Smart Lighting products interact with other Ring products for enhanced security: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025181851-Ring-Smart-Lighting-Bridge-Information. Also, the Ring Bridge built into the Amazon Echo (4th gen or later) or the Amazon Echo Show 10 (3rd gen or later) eliminates the need to purchase an additional Bridge device to use Ring Smart Lighting: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360059329551-Using-your-Echo-devices-as-a-Smart-Lighting-Bridge. For any additional installation questions or set up concerns, please feel free to reach out on our community forum at https://community.ring.com/. Thank you, Antonio from Ring
A: Hello Bruce, Correct, without the Ring Bridge, the Ring Smart Lighting Floodlight Wired and other Ring Smart Lights function only as standard motion-sensing lights. This means your Smart Lighting Floodlight Wired would only activate at night when motion is detected. When the Smart Lighting Floodlight Wired is mounted too high, it often gets angled sharply downwards. This can work if you're only looking to detect motion in a very small area, but more often than not results in not detecting approaching visitors the motion sensors are triggered. If this is the case, a Ring Bridge would be need to adjust motion detection settings via the Ring App. If you already have an Amazon Echo (4th gen) or an Echo Show 10 (3rd gen), both of these devices have a built-in Ring Bridge: https://support.ring.com/hc/en-us/articles/360059329551-Using-your-Echo-devices-as-a-Smart-Lighting-Bridge. A: Hello Ramon, Yes. Ring Smart Lighting Floodlight is dimmable. All settings including brightness, motion detection, schedules, and more are all controlled via the Ring App(Ring Bridge Required). The Ring Bridge is the central hub that integrates Ring smart lights, motion sensors, and transformers into your Ring system. The Ring Bridge connects to the Ring App using your home wifi network and connects to other Ring Smart Lighting products using a proprietary long-range communication protocol. Without the Ring bridge, the Ring Smart Lighting Floodlight and other Ring smart lights function only as standard motion-sensing lights. In addition, you can use your Ring App to create groups of smart lights and Ring cameras that work together to enhance security. For example, if you’re subscribed to Ring Protect, your Ring Doorbell can begin recording video as soon as motion is detected. A: Hello pacopendejoh, The Floodlight Wired requires power of 100-240VAC. The Ring Floodlight is designed for ease of installation. However, like all electrical appliances, the power will need to be shut off at the breaker during installation. If you do not know how to do this or are uncomfortable working with electrical wires, we recommend consulting a licensed electrical installation service to ensure the circuit at your home can handle this electrical load. A: Some people here say you can use the light as a standalone. I wired it, but it won't go on. I'm on the phone with Ring customer service, and they say nope, you have to have a bridge or use Amazon Echo. What a PITA.
A: Hello smansh, Great question! Yes, you can use the Ring Floodlight Wired as a stand-alone motion sensing light. The Ring Bridge (sold separately) is the central hub that integrates Ring Smart Lights, Motion Sensors, and Transformers into your Ring system. The Bridge connects to the Ring app using your home wifi network and connects to other Ring Smart Lighting products using a proprietary long-range communication protocol. Without the Ring Bridge, your motion sensor functions only as a standard device. With a Bridge, you can control whole groups of lights and sensors at once and be notified via the Ring app when any light or Motion Sensor senses movement. In addition, you can use your Ring app to create Groups of Smart Lights and Ring cameras that work together to enhance security. For example, if you’re subscribed to Ring Protect, your Ring Doorbell can begin recording video as soon as motion is detected by your Motion Sensor. This provides footage that captures motion events earlier. For any additional questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out on our community forum at https://community.ring.com/.
