A: To: Gigi dated 6/26th - - - Re:{Diameter of Axel?} It is 5/8" diameter or 0.625" .... zero bearings in wheels! - - - eli2
A: They don’t need to be inflated, I have Chollas cactus and having the type of tires that this cart has is a great feature, it also has a great size load capacity!
A: The tires as solid rubber, not inflatable. There is no component to absorb shock (like inflated tires), as opposed to a wheelbarrow's soft tire. There is a fixed axle with solid wheels. There are two wheels to split the weight and balance, but the wheels are not wide and do sink in with a heavy load. The cart does NOT bounce around like a wheelbarrow does due to the solid tires. I hauled about 55,000lbs of block with mine to build a significant retaining wall with no noticable wear on the cart. Some of the hauling was through very loss sand (I hauled in), and the wheels did sink in significantly and make pulling the cart difficult with 200lbs+ in the cart. Over grass, it did wear a path, but later after the grass recovered, it was not noticable.
A: To: 'David' dated April 08 Re:{ Which is it? Pneumatic or Flat-free?} Sir: .... This is a case of the "Advertising Copy" not keeping-up with the Product! LOOOOONG ago now, the vendor "RUBBERMAID" had their supplier "switch" from Bicycle-type Tires with tubes to a entire Plastic Assembly of HUB, with molded spokes, which also includes that pretend, narrow Rim & Tire, which is 100% all made simultaneously, in-same plastic injection shot. Ours is now three (3) years of age, does HAVE these molded Units which I described and and, so far-so good! ....just NEVER subject these to 'ruts' wherein these might become "twisted-slightly!" ......eli2
A: They used to be pneumatic tires. They are flat free now.
A: The tires on mine hold air and are not flat free.
A: Certainly it should - especially for the holidays. (But no.)
A: If only!!! I do not know that it comes in red as I have only seen the blackish/gray. BUT, there are lots of red spray paints that would adhere to the plastic even the automotive red metallics!!! I would suggest painting it before you put it together. I am definitely going to paint mine red next spring, maybe the yard work will actually get done. Thanks for the idea.
A: Yes, and if you get the red with the black stripe, it's even faster.
A: I have never seen a red one , but if I did I would have to get one. By the way RED is not any faster it just looks that way
A: Is this a serious question? To my knowledge, it only comes in black. You would need to ask the store to be sure.
A: Don't know. I just use it as is.
A: I believe they are for the optional caster kit mentioned in the instriuctions
A: Drainage. At least that is what we used them for. Drilled holes into marks.
A: They are artifacts from the injection molding process and serve no practical value.
A: {..What are [4] Holes for?} Used during Molding Process ..these have norther purpose! ....eli2
A: Sure you can mix cement. Just wash it out when you are done. About the beach sand. I would say it depends on how much weight you have in the yard cart when you are trying to push it over sand. This is a guess since I had a pretty heavy load and tried to push the cart over mulch and couldn't do it. I had to go up our drive and turn the cart so I was pushing downhill on the mulch. I am a female, 102lbs so that has something to do with it. I really like the cart. To go on sand it might need wider wheels.
A: I'm sure you can mix cement in it but I never have. Nor have I taken it to the beach.
A: Mortar or concrete can both be mixed in the Yard Cart. However, the cart is fairly deep and you will be lifting the mortar or concrete over a high wall. I have not used my cart for this purpose yet. I would not recommend this cart for the beach. The tires are too narrow and it would bog down to the point the bottom of the cart was sitting in the sand.
A: I used this in beach sand and it worked OK but not great. The wheels are not wide, but there are two. Unlike a wheelbarrow which gets tippy when bogged down. The cart just requires more effort. We used it to haul retaining wall blocks (20 tons of them). And never felt something else would work better and never felt it was worth building a temporary wooden path which I would have to use a wheelbarrow.
A: I mixed 6 bags, 2 at a time in mine, it scuffed the inside but it worked well. It didn't like moving multiple bags of dry though. Not something I would mix cement in every day but good for a one time shot. Sorry no idea about beach sand but I would guess no joy unless the load was very light.
A: Yes, Cement, Cement Blocks, Mulch, Firewood, and Bricks...even on soft soil and non-level surfaces this is.hands down the best yard cart / wheelbarrow I have ever used...
A: (Use for mixing concrete?} {Use on Beach Sand?} (A) - Mix Concrete? ...only for a single pre-mix bag for securing ONE Fence Post at-a-time, perhaps! Otherwise, NOT-AT-ALL. - - - - - Wet Concrete weighs about 155# per cu ft and this Yard Cart will never survive-mixing-a-load!! (B) - Beach Sand? -- imagine extremely-skinny Racing Bike Tires?? .... these are THAT and, therefore, useless except for Concrete Floors or very-hard, packed Gravel in One's Driveway....eli2
A: I haven't tried to mix concrete in it but I suppose you could. I would check with the manufacturer. I would think it might be a little difficult to manuever in the sand. The wheels are not very wide. Guess it would depend on how dry the sand is. If it is damp and packed it should be ok.
A: To: 'Turtle' - Re: - {TWO Questions - use on a beach to load / haul sand plus Mixing Concrete?} We have had ours for three (3) years now.... our actual usage observations are as follows: A) - Plastic Tub is NOT intended for nor would it be able to support 7.5 cu ft of wet concrete @ 155# / cu ft!! - - - that's over 1100 pounds! ...additionally, One could NOT pull or push such a loading unless on solid pavement. One bag of premix at 70# and required water for a fence post, yes, of course! B) - As mentioned in other "Posts" the two wheels are extremely-narrow - - - think those of a Racing Bicycle! - - - never going to function over loose beach sand! C) - "IF" one ever twists the cart slightly because of mud or ruts-in-dirt, one or both of the large plastic wheels will break. D) - This Unit by RUBBERMAID is strictly designed & intended for very loose materials, such as Animal Bedding Shavings, Bulk Grain Feed, etc., never Cinder Blocks, fireplace wood, large landscape rocks, etc.. E) - Any "cracks" within the Tub are not repairable ...no Epoxy will ever "stick!"
A: 33".
A: This product has a width of 32.75 inches.
A: 32 inches
A: Just shy of 32 inches outside to outside of wheels. I think this is what makes it so stable. Love the solid wheels. No flats.
A: Just under 32 inches. For purposes of clearance, perhaps an inch more needs to be added for the hubs.
A: I can't say with certainty, but I suspect it is because of the item's size. I don't think it is because of the weight, although that might be a factor. Shipping would involve a large container which I suspect makes shipping costly. Have you checked about delivery by your local Home Depot? Might be cheaper than shipping charges. FWIW, I brought mine home in the trunk of a '95 Toyota Tercel, not a large trunk by anyone's standards. It took a little finagling, but it did fit. I did have to tie down the trunk lid, though.
A: Here’s the thing, Yes free shipping to local store, now it you have it shipped to your house, this does cost. I will say this is a GREAT cart, I removed the wheels to transport to my home, I have a cover on my truck, I especially like the tires, they are puncture proof!
A: Hi John, This question should be answered by Home Depot themselves rather than sending HD policy questions to customers. So this is just my thinking as I am only a customer. It is bulky and rather heavy so likely very expensive to ship. I love the thing; very sturdy and easier to work with than a standard wheel barrow. Also the wheels are solid. I picked it up and it fit in my large SUV easily. Any chance you know someone who could give the thing a ride for you? Perhaps if you called HD customer service, they could advise re your actual question.
A: This is why they say most, it's probably not cost effective for them to ship. Mine fit it tge back of my nissan Pathfinder with the back seats down. I love this cart
A: I’m sure there isn’t enough profit in it to pay for the special handling it would require. This isn’t something UPS can bring to your door. Mine fit in my SUV, but if you don’t have one available, most Home Depot locations will rent a pickup truck to you for a hour to bring big items home.
A: This is a pretty big item and is heavy.
A: (WHY NOT FREE S / H ?} This Yard Cart is an HUGE, Very-bulky Item .... unless HomeDepot did ship these in their Semi Trailers / Tractors from Warehouse to their Stores, the total Charge would be prohibitive! ....seek Local Stores that have these in-stock, now that it's SPRING TIME.....eli2
A: I suppose you could add some wheels to the two short legs, but the design of the cart with two large wheels nearly centered makes the weight on the handle very light. If you load the cart with the higher percentage of weight over the wheels and forward, you should be able to lift a fairly large load easily. Also, the large wheels help in that regard.
A: To: 'screwy' dated May 24 - Re:{...need to make this a FOUR (4) wheeled Cart?} Sorry B-U-T, because of the rounded shape of the TUB Portion, there would be zero means or possibilities of "improvising" to add another steel shaft / axle for more wheels! By Chance, do you happen to have a riding Lawn Mower / mini-Tractor? .... there ARE many versions of "Utility Carts" intended for this purpose. ...lastly, there ARE also a few (4) wheeled Yard Carts currently featured @ HomeDepot.com as "Seasonal Items" with no charge / Free S and H to your nearest H. D. Store, where they will assist you in loading same into your pickup or S.U.V......eli
A: I doubt it can be altered, though the cart’s weight is evenly distributed over the wheels and I don’t feel as though I am lifting weight when I use it. It’s not like a regular wheelbarrow where there is lots of heavy lifting.
A: It's possible but would take some doing and would be real tuff to do and make it dump very well probly better off with a gorrila wagon/cart and welding up a handle at a height comfortable for your back. With there romovable sides and all it would be more versatile with less effort. Good luck
A: From my previous experience, find an aftermarket welder and YES you can.
A: Tires are solid, not air filled, which I believe means they can't go flat. It is very helpful for outdoor tasks.
A: Tires are not flat free. They have tubes that will pop if they get too hot. Spokes are hard plastic!
A: Tires are solid rubber and spokes are plastic but can haul a lot of weight-the wife loves it
A: To: 'Spud' dated Mar 31 - Re:{verify flat-free tires & plastic spokes?} ...will try a REPLY based upon our actual usage. The tires on current Units are definitely solid, molded plastic but N-O-T what s / b called 'TOUGH" in my experiences, particularly during cold days! On the 7.5 cu ft Yard Cart we have, the 'tires' are extremely-thin - [a.k.a. = skinny, as on racing bikes] - and there are NOT separate spokes, which lead into a HUB. Rather, the entire Wheel Assembly is a single, made-at-one-time, plastic molding, with zero bearings for the axel. Care needs to be taken to NOT twist or "man-handle" the slender spokes / tires by a Rut-in-the-dirt or suddenly hit a rock, etc., etc......eli2
A: Yes
A: A "P.S." for 'Dddffff' dated Mar 17 - Re:{ Replacement wheels M1564200?} In additional searching @ very many www sites, as is often the case, even the very least total costs for Two (2) replacement Items of your exact, specified RUBBERMAID PART NUMBER total MORE $$$ than the entire current charge for an entirely-new 7.5 cu ft YARDCART @ HomeDepot.......eli2
A: To: 'Dddffff' dated Mar 17 - Re"{...does H.D. have & sell replacement Wheels?} Naturally, I am confused by the Question!!! On our 7.5 cu ft Yardcart by RUBBERMAID, there is NO such SPECIAL HUB!! .....simply, a straight-through Bore, molded for the steel rod/axle which goes from one side to the opposite, with only a cotter key hole! Perhaps, you may have the much older versions, with pneumatic Tires & Tubes? In any case, NO, HomeDepot does not stock / sell the Replacement Items for either Version of Yardcart BUT, since you "DO" have the exact RUBBERMAID part number that you need, the Customer Service Group, PRO Desk and / or the 800 number should be willing to order them! BE SURE to only allow for S / H directly to the nearest H.D. for your pick-up ....otherwise, that charge to you directly may well be as much as the Replacements!!! ......eli2
