Answer This Question

A:  Happy to help, Jess. Rust-Oleum Epoxyshield Garage Floor Coating Kit can not be applied to wooden surfaces and will peel over time. However, our Rust-Oleum Rocksolid Garage Floor Kit can be applied to wooden floors. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-RockSolid-180-oz-Gray-Polycuramine-2-5-Car-Garage-Floor-Kit-365193/314107176 -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14

    Answer This Question

A:  Happy to clear things up, Matt. If adding the Rust-Oleum Anti Skid Additive to your Rust-Oleum Epoxyshield Garage Floor Kit it should be added along with the final coat. So if you apply the clear top coat then it should be added to the clear. -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14

Q:How can I add UV protection after I’ve applied the kit and clear coat? I have a small strip that see some sun and I want to protect.

      Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for reaching out, James. While Rust-Oleum Epoxyshield Garage Floor Coating can be top coated we do not currently offer a compatible finish that can provide added UV protective. For areas that are exposed to UV we recommend applying Rust-Oleum Concrete & Garage Paint + Primer and the compatible clear top coat. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-1-Gal-Battleship-Gray-Satin-1-Part-Epoxy-Concrete-Floor-Interior-Exterior-Paint-225380/203417055 -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14

Q:What do you use to etch a sealed concrete floor before painting?
        by|Jul 9, 2024
        1 Answer
        Answer This Question

A:  Happy to help, Jimmy! If wanting to use Rust-Oleum EpoxyShield Garage Floor Coating on sealed concrete, the sealer will either need to be removed via grinding or you would need to prime the sealed surface with Rust-Oleum Concrete and Garage Recoat Primer. Etching will not remove the sealer, but grinding the sealer off would replace the need for grinding. If you use the primer, etching would not be required either. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-1-gal-Concrete-and-Garage-Interior-Exterior-Recoat-Primer-338806/308295564 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

            Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for reaching out, Blaine. Yes, Rust-Oleum Epoxyshield Garage Floor Kit can be applied to previously coated concrete. We recommend first applying our Rust-Oleum Concrete and Garage Recoat Primer as it allows you to paint over the previous coating without having to grind or sand. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-1-gal-Concrete-and-Garage-Interior-Exterior-Recoat-Primer-338806/308295564 -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14

              Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for reaching out, Greg. While Rust-Oleum Epoxyshield Concrete & Garage Floor Kit would be applied to a covered surface, we still do not recommend applying to any outdoor surfaces. Any exposure to UV will cause the coating to haze. Instead, we recommend applying Rust-Oleum Concrete & Garage Paint + Primer for outdoor surfaces. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-1-Gal-Battleship-Gray-Satin-1-Part-Epoxy-Concrete-Floor-Interior-Exterior-Paint-225380/203417055 -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14

Q:I installed the dark grey EpoxyShield today with the chips. It covered well but not great. Can I do another coat tomorrow even though I used the chips? If so would I roll a new coat on and use chips again?

                    Answer This Question

A:  Happy to help. Yes, a new Rust-Oleum Epoxyshield Garage Floor Kit can be applied to a surface that has been coated with the same kit, even if the chips were applied. If it has been longer than 48 hours you will have to sand the surface using 60-80 grit sandpaper for the new kit to properly adhere. The chips can then also be applied with the 2nd kit. -Rust-Oleum Product Support 14
