A:  Thank you for reaching out! Yes, our Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Hammered Copper Spray Paint may be applied to stainless steel. For the best adhesion and coverage, we recommend first priming the surface using our Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Clean Metal Primer Spray: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Stops-Rust-12-oz-Flat-White-Clean-Metal-Primer-Spray-7780830/100143442 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

A:  Thanks for reaching out, Jon. Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Hammered Spray Paint can be applied to metal surfaces, including copper, that does not exceed 200°F. If the copper pipes exceed 200°F, we have no other coating we can recommend. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6

      Answer This Question

A:  We appreciate your interest. While Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Hammered Spray Paint can be applied to metal surfaces, we do not recommend it for use on areas that will reach temperatures above 200°F. This type of exposure will cause the coating to blister and peel. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

        Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for reaching out, Terri. To achieve the best hammered finish using Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Hammered Spray Paint, be sure to shake the can vigorously for at least one minute once the mixing ball begins to rattle, and frequently during use. When applying, hold the can 10-16" from the surface and spray in a steady back and forth motion, slightly overlapping each stroke, keeping the can the same distance from the surface. Keep the can in motion while spraying. Apply 2 or more light coats a few minutes apart until the desired coverage has been achieved. More light coats will provide the best hammered finish. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6

          Answer This Question

A:  Happy to help! Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Hammered Spray Paint can be used over bare and previously painted metal surfaces. Smooth, hard, or glossy surfaces should be lightly sanded prior to application to ensure full adhesion. A clear coat is not required, but can be used if wanting to change the sheen of the hammered paint. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 3

Q:Anyone else try this on wood? I had a piece of wood furniture (smooth - it had been stained and glossed) and it goes on smooth, not hammered except in a few areas. I have no idea why. I tried sanding the piece and redoing and still the same result.

                Answer This Question

A:  Hi Cathy, if the wood surface has a previous finish such as a polyurethane on the surface, our Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Hammered Sprays may be applied over this finish. We would recommend scuff sanding with 220-320 grit sandpaper to degloss the finish and ensure proper adhesion. Hammered finishes work best when a coat is applied to the surface slightly heavier than you would with a traditional spray paint, taking care to not apply so heavily that it will run or drip. If this doesn't work to create a hammered finish, please give us a call at 800-481-4785, and we will be happy to help! - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

A:  Thank you for reaching out, Vee! Our Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Hammered Sprays are not compatible with galvanized metal, so the surface would need to be primed first with a compatible primer. We recommend priming using our Rust-Oleum Stops Rust Universal Bonding Primer: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Rust-Oleum-Stops-Rust-12-oz-Universal-Bonding-Primer-Spray-6-Pack-285011/205926957 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2

Q:Can this be used on concrete statues?

                    Answer This Question

A:  Thank you for reaching out! Concrete statues are porous surfaces and will allow most paints to adhere well, however, the surface will also absorb the paint, reducing coverage and dulling the sheen. You can first prime the statue using a suitable primer such as our Zinsser Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer Spray: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Zinsser-Bulls-Eye-1-2-3-Plus-13-oz-White-Interior-Exterior-Primer-Spray-272479/203985969 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 2
