Answer This Question

A:  Get a funnel. "If only the nozzle was longer and articulated as the can was lifted in a filling operation ".

by|Dec 1, 2023

A:  Place a funnel into the fill tube on truck. Then pour from container into funnel.

A:  Hi marc - There are environmental regulations (EPA) that must be met on all fuel cans sold in the US, in addition gas cans must adhere to strict child resistant packaging laws and come equipped with a child-safety lock, all these features have been built into the SMARTCONTROL SPOUT. There is a funnel available directly from Scepter that can be used in conjunction with the SMARTCONTROL SPOUT that may help. Every automobile/equipment is different, so it is not a one size fits all situation. If you require the funnel or any additional assistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to our customer care team at 1-855-857-3252.

A:  Hi Benjamin - We apologize for your experience, This can has a flow rate of 3+ gallons per minute when actuated fully. Step 1; Vent the fuel can by slowly unscrewing the cap, allow all the pressure to escape. Once vented re-tighten cap. Step 2: Flip up dark lever on back of spout with your palm. Step 3: With the dark green lever still flipped up, push the entire light green pad forward. It will be stiff as that is part of the child resistant feature. Step 4: Tilt can and pour. If you are still having difficulty, please contact our customer care team at 1-855-857-3252 or email customerservice@scepter.com so we can resolve this for you. Thank you.

Q:What do you recommend for Ethanol E-85

A:  Hi Joeyc - Scepter containers are designed to be used with the standard fuels that you would find at gas stations. E85 is a very aggressive fuel, long term testing is underway but we do not have results. For those reasons, we DO NOT recommend using our container for E85. Please contact our Customer Care Team for further assistance at 1-855-857-3252. Thank you

A:  E-85 is a flammable liquid so I would suggest storage in a red can like regular gasoline except clearly labeled. Yellow cans for Diesel are considered non flammable and are not stored in red containers for that reason.

A:  Hi Clark - The screen in the opening of the fuel container is a flame mitigation device (FMD) for consumer protection. Their inclusion in fuel containers is about to become law. Unfortunately there are people who misuse fuel and can end up severely injured. Our goal is the safety of our customers, so we’ve added one ahead of the pending regulations. We understand that filling the containers can take a bit longer, but this does add an extra layer of protection for consumers who don’t handle fuel responsibly. The FMD should never be removed from the container. Gas and diesel pumps are different. The FMD contains two internal ledges that the pump must rest on when filling depending on your fuel type. Diesel pumps rest on the first ledge, and gasoline pumps must be inserted to reach the second ledge. We have posted both fill and pour instructions online at https://www.scepter.com/safety/instructional-videos/ which should help. If you require any additional troubleshooting, please contact our customer care team at 1-855-857-3252

A:  Gas is for red cans. This jug is a piece of junk anyways. You’re better off syphoning with your mouth than trying to use the worthless nozzle.

A:  Hi Yessy - Scepter fuel containers are color coded and marked to indicate to safety personnel the contents of the container in case of an emergency and to prevent accidental poisoning. For that reason, we DO NOT recommend using the container for any contents other than what is specified. A:  You should use Red cans for Gas and yellow for diesel as this is a recognized standard and keeps people from using the wrong fuel and damaging equipment.

The green plastic part on back is somehow not working. Push in the Dark green and try to push rest forward in every direction and it won't move at all. Use to work fine first few weeks.

A:  It could, but the whole point of the color of the can is to distinguish what is inside. Red containers are intended for gasoline and other highly flammable liquids. Blue containers are used for storing kerosene. Yellow containers are used for diesel fuel. Green containers typically are designed for storing oil. Putting highly flammable gasoline in a yellow container would mislead people and could lead to problems.

A:  It is the same can as the gas or kerosine cans, what makes it a diesel can is the color. It's a safety protocol. Red is Gasoline, Blue is Kerosine, and Yellow is Diesel. If you put the wrong fuel in something it can be disasterous.

A:  Standard is yellow for diesel and red for gasoline so you don't get them mixed up and put the wrong fuel in the wrong vehicle.
