Questions and Answers for Seal Once Seal-Once Marine 1 gal. Clear Premium Wood Sealer and Stain for Exterior Use

A:  Not sure why no one is answering questions from HD, as normal. My understanding is this is not a stain nor can it have color added to it. It soaks into your wood for much protection, use alone or over stain. It is purple and will turn clear as dries.

A:  Yes you can put over another stain even water based but not paint 

A:  I just finished my deck with the clear sealant. It deepened the color of the pressure treated wood and added a subtle sheen. I am pleased.

A:  Yes, but the preparation is different depending on the previous treatment. If it was a paint, it must be completely removed. If it was a similar water-based stain: Instructions for re-application of Seal-Once after it has weathered and no longer repels water: Before you re-apply Seal-Once water proofers , you must clean and brighten the surface using Seal-Once All Wood Cleaner. Apply the cleaner as directed. Let it sit on the surface for around 20 minutes. During this time, agitate it with a scrub brush. The scrub brush will help immensely. Do not allow the cleaner to dry on the surface. Keep it wet. Rinse off the cleaner with a power washer. Keep the wand about a foot away from the surface. You don’t want to scar the wood. After it is clean and dry, (2 days), you can apply the required 2 coats of Seal-Once water proofers with a brush. If you spray or roll, you must immediately back brush the area. Brushing is very important. You begin at the end of two boards. You will brush to the other end of the same two boards. Now apply a second coat to the same 2 boards. Apply the second coat within 5-15 minutes of the first coat. The second coat must be applied while the first coat is still wet. (Wet on wet application). Push the product into the wood with the brush. Spread it out evenly. Do not allow it to puddle. Wipe off any excess with a rag.

A:  We don’t recommend it for garden bed application. Seal-Once has not been tested for extractables from direct-to-soil contact leaching.

A:  Seal-Once is water-resistant, so once it is applied it will repel a paint applied over it.

A:  According to their website it is.

A:  It has a very low satin sheen that's barely noticable. I used it to seal a cedar gazebo kit to lengthen the life. 2 years later it's still holding up in the NE winters.

A:  Seal once is not recommended for interior use.
