A: Home Depot sells additional sections of the same pipe used (PEX). I would buy a the refrigerator kit and an additional 10' section and a push fitting to connect the 2 pipes.

A: The easiest thing to do is buy some flexible vinyl tubing (20 - 25 ft) with 1/4 inch connections on the ends. You will also need to buy something like the 1/4 inch elbow connection like what I bought with mine. Hopefully the photo I added shows the elbow portion at the bottom of the photo. The posting preview looks like it might have cut that part off.

A: Hi Zach,
Most refrigerators use a 1/4" compression connection for ice makers. This includes models with the water dispenser in the door. This kit includes a 1/4" compression fitting for this purpose.

A: I tapped a 3/4" pipe for my icemaker. In addition to this kit, I purchased a 3/4" sharkbite slip tee, a 3/4" to 1/2" sharkbite reducing coupling, and 3/4" and 1/2" copper nipples.
I then used everything in the kit except for the 1/2" sharkbite slip tee.

Q:Will this connect to current PEX piping? All of the examples I see are connecting it to copper pipes. It says it will on the description but just want to confirm.

A: Cook - This Kit is only compatible with Copper/CPVC because the SharkBite Slip Tee is only compatible on Copper and CPVC. Slip Fittings do not have the PEX Stiffener in them because they are designed for repair and replacement. We do sell a Tee that will work for cutting into PEX and adding a line. SharkBite Model #s 24987A, U850W5, U3524LFA (search for these on HD.com) will accomplish the job for you on PEX Pipe, the Tee Stop Valve, 1/4" PEX and the 1/4" Compression Ice Maker/Fridge Adapter. If you have any additional questions or concerns please reach out to our customer service team at 1-877-700-7272.

A: The PEX tubing included in the kit is 1/4" (3/8" OD) PEX tubing. SharkBite fittings can be use with Hard Copper, CPVC, PEX, and HDPE pipes. If your copper tubing already has 1/4" Compression connections, you might consider http://www.homedepot.com/p/SharkBite-1-2-in-Brass-Push-to-Connect-x-Push-to-Connect-x-Copper-Tube-Size-Adapter-U4482LFA/202721849?keyword=service+slip+tee and http://www.homedepot.com/p/SharkBite-1-2-in-Chrome-Plated-Brass-Push-to-Connect-x-1-4-in-O-D-Compression-Quarter-Turn-Angle-Stop-Valve-23336-0000LF/202721911?keyword=23336-0000lf

A: Yes you can.

A: You probably could. Indeed you could just sweat solder copper fittings to the branch of the slip tee, but why would you? There is no good reason to use copper any more, and that is coming from someone who is proud to be darned good at sweat soldering. PEX is cheaper, cleaner, easier to use, faster to install, more hygenic and more durable than copper.
