Q:Is it good for 15amp outlets, and 15 amp circuit?

Answer This Question
A: Yes it is but if your only 15amp circuit 14 2 wire is good enough
by|Mar 24, 2023
A: It is legal for up to 20 amp circuits. For a 15 amp circuit you can use either 12/2 or 14/2 wire. 14/2 is easier to work with and cheaper, so it is usually used for 15 amp circuits.

A: Number 12 copper wire is rated for 20 amp circuits or less. It is always used in residential floor circuits (outlets). Number 14 copper wire is rated for 15 amp circuits or less. It is generally used in residential lighting circuits. Hope that helps.

A: Yes it can be used on a 15 amp circuit and 15 amp receptacles. 12-2 with ground is rated for 20 amp circuits. So bigger is ok. 14-2 with ground is a smaller wire but rated for 15 amp circuits and receptacles.

A: Type NM-B (nonmetallic-sheathed cable) may be used for both exposed and concealed
work in normally dry locations at temperatures not to exceed 90°C (with ampacity limited to that for 60°C conductors) as specified in the National Electrical Code

Q:Will this work for a 220 well pump
by|Nov 11, 2022

Answer This Question
A: if the pump is rated for no more than 4,000 watts yes you can
12gauge wire is good for 20 amps. 240v x 20amp=4800watts
%80 max capacity 3840 watts

A: Wire is sized by the current draw. 12 gauge wire is good for loads up to 20 amps. Most codes have you factor in an 80% overload protection. So I would not use this wire for a pump running more then 18 amps. This wire would work fine for a pump under the 18 running if the distance is not to great. Also this romex is only a three conductor wire, so the pump must be 220 volt with no neutral. Most pumps do not require a neutral. If your distance is more than 100 feet I would look up a voltage drop calculator online. Then you would need to input the distance in feet, the running current of the pump, and the size of the wire. If the distance is long and the running amps are high it will drop the line voltage down, and could possibly damage the pump motor. In very long distances it may be necessary to use a larger size wire to compensate. Good luck
