A:  You need the ground screw if you are going to separate the bars from the neutral one of those bars you put the ground screw on top

The Wiring Diagram will state "Box bonding when required" and indicate the location on the neutral assembly to install the green bonding screw. The green bonding screw, which is a self-tapping screw, will be supplied with load centers that are marked as suitable for use as service equipment. A:  This can usually be done, but I see no good reason to do so. If you want to install main lugs so you can use this as a subpanel, it isn't necessary. In a subpanel application, the protection comes from the breaker feeding the subpanel and the main breaker can remain and becomes nothing more than a panel disconnect. If you still want just main lugs, contact Square D for the part numbers.
