A:  Hmmm, we have ours on a bed of river rock, so I've never thought about the amount of heat generated through the base. We'll try to have a fire in the next couple days to test how hot it gets & report back. What is the heat rating on the composite deck?

A:  Hello Darryl, I was concerned about rain & sprinklers, so I purchased a pit cover (Ultimate 36 in. Round Fire Pit Cover SKU 1002052122). We've had the pit for over 6 months and not a speck of rust. If you'd prefer not to buy the cover, you could turn the bowl over between uses to keep the rain from standing.
