A: Hi Zeke,
That would depend on the size and length of the hose you are pushing the water through. The only way it would work, for sure is if you have the water moving through the hose when the pump is started as you will need some syphon going to allow this to work properly.
Thanks

A: Depends on the vertical height to the roof. The pump likely needs to be close to house where it will lift the water to roof. Pump to roof hose needs to be as short as practical. No slack.

Answer This Question
A: I would say No. The pump is not intrinsically safe and the possibility of a spark or ignition source would be problematic and catastrophic.

Q:I need to pump vegetable oil for an environmental project. Can this pump handle liquids with a viscosity greater than that of water? Viscosity of water being 1 cps and the vegetable oil being 213 cps

Answer This Question
A: Hi there,
This pump is not designed for liquids with a viscosity greater than water. It may work but as it is used with antifreeze for winterizing motor homes and such.
We do not recommend this pump.
The #90000 Bulldog pump we make for fuel oil would be the best one to use.
Thanks

Q:Does this pump have internal switch that will turn off the pump if there is no flow?

Answer This Question
A: It does not. It must be monitored closely for change in sound (cavitation) to prevent damage. I use mine to pump out rain barrels and check the level frequently.

A: Hi there,
No it does not have an automatic on/off. A jet pump will have a pressure switch that when it gets to the set pressure, the pump will turn off but not the transfer pumps.
Thanks

A: There is no switch that will turn it off automatically. It just keeps running. It might have a thermal over load, maybe. It’s a very basic machine.

A: Hi there,
We do not rate these pumps for chemicals such as this HOWEVER if doing it for a short time, an hour or less at a time, and you flush it with fresh water after use it should be fine.
Thanks

A: I don’t see why not. However, like any substances the pump will fail in time due to the corrosivity of the chlorine solution. If I recall, 12% would be anything other than household bleach. Be prepared to replace it sooner rather than later.

Q:I have a 270 gallon rain barrel that I need a pump for I know this pump can do the job after reading the reviews and asking around. My question is everyone that I talk to says it so powerful that it will collapse the intake hose is there anything i can do about that? The smaller pump does not give me enough pressure and this one seems to be to much any ideas

Answer This Question
A: I attach a heavy-duty garden hose to intake and drop it into a septic tank to pump it out. No collapse. A cheap or flimsy hose will collapse, though. There should not be any problem with extracting water from the rain barrel, except to say it will go fairly fast depending on whether the hose has or has no attachment on the end. No sprinkler attachment quicker. Sprinkler attached slower.

A: Attach a garden hose to your rain barrel and then to your pump and another garden hose to the discharge depending on where you want to direct the water as its being pumped out. I use a heavy duty garden hose. No issues with hoses collapsing when pump is operating. Keep the rain barrel top open to allow air to enter and to avoid a vacuum from being created. This will collapse the hoses. I use my pump to drain a 1000 gallon water tank. The lid is left off during pumping. Works well.
