Q:Hi! Looking to build a desk. How hard is the bark to sand off? Also I love the look but would hate if the wood curved in in the center changing the width. Is there a way to pick of a straighter piece more suitable for a desk top?

Answer This Question
A: Hi None,
The bark comes off fairly easy with a chisel and then sanding to make smooth. The 4 footers tend to not have much curve so you should be in great shape for a desk.

Answer This Question
A: Please note, the live edge slabs will not be 16 inches wide throughout. By choosing this item you will get the widest slabs we offer, which are 12-16 inches in width. I hope that helps!

A: Hi DonR,
I would recommend glue and nails and a clear poly finish. These are sanded but we recommend removing and sanding off the bark before finishing.

A: Hi Fumfy,
These are used for this application all the time. The slabs are normally pretty straight around 10-11'' wide throughout the whole slab.

Answer This Question
A: Hi Patw,
Most people peel off the bark and sand the edges and top and bottom. After that most people use a poly finish or an epoxy bar top finish. Feel free to reach out to us at 818-953-5350 for more questions.
