A:  I bought this for this reason and found out that it DOES NOT kill carpenter ants. Look at the label for what Terro will "kill" and not "control".

A:  As long as they aren’t opened they won’t attract anything more. BUT these need to be treated as any other poison and never place where a child could find it. I keep mine on a high shelf in the garage.

Q:I set out 6 traps in my house, one of which a decent amount of liquid accidently spilled out of onto the floor. By the next day all 6 traps had a good number of ants and then almost all vanished after a few days. After a few more days suddenly at the trap that spilled out there's an influx of a ton of ants again while the other traps are bare. Should I leave the liquid spilled on the ground until it's all gone? Or clean it all up the next time the ants go away and put up a new station? Do I keep putting out new stations to attract new ants forever at this point? Or once they go away again I can remove them?

A:  Ants are tough buggars. I would set out new Terro baited traps until no ants appeared. You might want to consider spraying around the perimeter of your house in an effort to reach the queen and stop the process. Good luck.

A:  I am sorry to hear about the spilled station! Go ahead and clean that out and put a new bait out. It should take around 2 weeks to take care of the ant colony. If ants are present after this time you could be dealing with multiple colonies.

A:  Depending on the type of ants you are dealing with (possibly sugar ants?). In my experience of using the Terro ant bait stations, I usually will put out 3-4 near cracks of entry, pantry, any area of ant activity is present. You'll see a ton of ant infestation feeding and taking the liquid back o the queen colony and will take several days (3-4) to finally notice no more activity. This is the time to remove the old bail stations, perform the spillage cleanup using only water. Any form of cleaning agent will deter any future activity in the same area. Place new bait stations and leave for at least two weeks in the areas you had them before. Believe me, they will return using the chemical ant trail. The second dose will eventually kill any left from the first dose. And as a preventive maintenance, leave 1-2 bait stations for any future activity which this time of the year is high for black sugar ant activity. It would be a good time to treat the exterior of your house lawn and flower beds with a insect treatment.

A:  Looks like you needed a second six pack to do the job. I had to use a second box. Now ant situation seems to be under control. I also used insect spray here and there

A:  I'm no chemist, nor am I a pet owner, but I would think Yes. To use them, you snip off just the tiny tip, so there is no way the cat could get into the small amount of liquid 'bait'. The only possibility *might* be if the cat managed to move it around briskly enough to let the approx. 1/2 teaspoon of contents spill out, then tried to lick it. You'd have to read the directions to be sure about that scenario. But if you keep it out of the cat's reach or maybe tape it to the surface (counter top, shelf, etc.) so it can't be overturned, it shouldn't be a problem. I have no pets, so I've never researched it closely.

A:  TERRO® Liquid Ant Bait should be placed in areas that your pet cannot access. The ingredients of this product are water, sugar and borax. Borax is a naturally occurring mineral found in many common household items such as hand soaps and detergents. We recommend sharing these ingredients and any safety concerns with your vet.

A:  TERRO® Liquid Ant Bait is made of water, sugar and borax. If this liquid spills onto a countertop, table, or floor it can be cleaned using mild soap and water. Spilled bait will harden over time. If this occurs, try placing a warm, wet cloth on top of it for approximately 20 minutes, softening the bait to make it easier to remove. Please contact us at 844-837-7644 with any questions.

A:  The active ingredient is borax which is an irritant. Its not a poison like in some ant killers but keep it out of eyes. Soap and water followed by rinsing should be fine but its sticky and may be difficult to clean up as a result. Please check here https://www.healthline.com/health/is-borax-safe#safety for details.

A:  Yes. If the Terro Liquid spills it can be cleaned up with liquid detergent or other cleaners. I use the liquid Terro & just puddle it on counters or sills where ants are tracking. They think it's a treat & gather around to consume it & then carry it back to their mound which kills the rest. After about 3 days there are no more ants. Please note that there are neither pets nor children in proximity of the treatment.

A:  The stuff inside doesn't appear to be liquid so spills aren't a problem. I personally think that the liquid Terro works better anyway. Have tried both.

A:  TERRO® Liquid Ant Bait is made by mixing sugar, water, and borax to create a liquid that’s highly attractive to many species of sweet-eating ants. Borax, also known as sodium tetraborate decahydrate, is a boron compound that has a wide variety of uses, including as a laundry booster, household cleaner, among others. Cleaning up spilled ant bait is easy, even if it gels or solidifies after exposure to the air. Here is what you need to do: Get a sponge or cloth wet with hot water. Place the sponge on top of the spilled ant bait. Leave the sponge in place for about an hour. After an hour, wipe the area clean.

A:  It is boric acid (borax) which is toxic to pets. If you use them, place them in an area your pets don’t have access to, such as in a cabinet under the kitchen sink, attic, etc. The ants will find these then take the bait to their nest.

A:  Personally have had no problems with our pets, cats and dogs. The active ingredient in Terro ant bait is borax. Not terribly harmful, but everyone can have a different reaction.. Our pets have never bothered the bait stations although if one were to get spilled a pet could certainly get some on their paws and of course lick. Have had great success with the Terro and moisture ants and never had any issues with our cats and dogs getting into it.

A:  Hi Ginger, Largely because it isn't cost effective to ship such a low dollar item. I have run into this many times when shopping online at Home Depot for items well under 10 dollars each. Unlike some others, Home Depot usually divvies up the shipments from multiple stores instead of combining everything into one box. The shipping costs on a single pack of this product would likely equal or exceed the entire cost of the product itself. I hope that if you are buying this as part of a much larger order, they will be willing to ship it in the future.
