Answer This Question

A:  Let me add that I would do both. I used construction adhesive and face nailed at the ends

    A:  Yes the solid

A:  Yes if there is underlayment. However, I could not blind nail it through the tongue; the bamboo is too hard to have the next board rush around the nail. I ended up face nailing it at the ends, with the baseboard/shoe covering the nails.

Q:Does this have to be glued down or can it be nailed

A:  I do both. I don't see how you can not glue it. It is also extremely hard, so blind nailing through the tongues doesn't work (the material will not crush around the nail). I face nailed it at the ends with the baseboard and shoe covering the nails.

Q:What is the best moisture test method that I can use for the concrete subfloor as a DIY er? Tramex analyzer is pretty expensive for a one case use and pinless testers do not work. I used Accumaster Pro duo tester with pin. Results are between 10% to 16%. Tester considers below 15% as dry. In the installation manual of the flooeing it says max moisture limit for concrete subfloor is 4.5%. But that is for Tramex. Any suggestion?

Q:In the "details" section it says, this flooring can be installed on cork underlayment and padding is required. If I use cork underlayment should I glue down planks on the cork underlayment or is that okay if I only glue the tongue and groove joints and let it float on the cork underlayment? The other question is, can I install it directly on concrete subfloor by glue down method by using an adhesive that is also a moisture barrier?

              Answer This Question

A:  This product is warrantied as a glue down installation. The recommended adhesive is a premium non-water based formula specially formulated for engineered bamboo flooring. The preferred type is moisture cure urethane floor glue. It is also recommended that you use an adhesive with a moisture barrier built in as well. The two glues that my installers typically use are Roberts 1535 and Bostik's Best. Both are formulated to bond with bamboo and both have a moisture barrier built in, which is required for bamboo flooring. If you don't want to secure the product to the sub floor, I would recommend the click together version of this for ease of installation. This will allow you to use an underlayment that has both a moisture barrier and sound reduction properties.

A:  i have laid this floor in 3 different locations now, every time on plywood subfloor. try not to get any glue in the tongue or groove as it makes the boards really hard to get together. the seams should be nearly perfect, and i would use a scrap piece to tap the tricky boards in place. you cant nail this stuff its way too hard. and the floor must be 100% level, any little dips will cause a soft floating spot. i would not let it float, itll come apart in 10 minutes. there is another version of this flooring which i believe is a floating version, but this specific version is the 1/2 hardwood, the other stuff says engineered click i think. i know this doesnt answer all your questions but maybe gives some direction

Q:How about providing the the actual finished width and length of each board in the multi width case? That would be great information for someone trying to figure out how much of this product coupled with the bull nose is needed for a stairs project. Of course I can't find the the actual TREAD coverage of the bull nose either. i.e if I have an existing 10 inch tread I will cover a part of that with the bull nose (total width less the bull nose portion hanging over the edge of the existing tread) and some combination of these "Multi Width Pieces". I can do the math if you provide the basic information. I apologize if I have missed it somewhere in your info, didn't see it in the installation instructions either. But understand it is a bit aggravating when you don't provide this very basic yet essential information. It makes it very difficult when you don't have product in the store where someone can actually measure it. Also, my current plan is to use the glue down product for the stairs in combination with the Engineered click floating product for the my floors. I assume it has the same look and texture. Please confirm as the pictures make it look the same. Thank you, Lflott
