Q:With the climaseal coating, are these good to use with pressure treated lumber?
by|Jan 14, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: I found this information:
ACQ (Alkaline Copper Quaternary) pressure-treated wood is more corrosive to
metal fasteners than CCA pressure-treated wood. However, during extensive
laboratory testing results indicate that most of our barrier coatings appear to hold
up well in ACQ treated wood applications.
We suggest the use of the following fasteners and coatings for ACQ treated
wood applications:
• DEC-KING® Exterior Wood Screw with Climacoat
• Rock-On Cement Board Fasteners with Climacoat
• Tapcon® Concrete Anchor with Blue Climaseal or White Ultrashield
• Wood-To-Metal TEKS® with Grey Spex
• Grid-Mate Fasteners with Climacoat
