Q:For TimberTech Vintage, Harvest or landmark groups of PVC deck boards. I understand a 1/8 to 3/16s gap is needed along sides for drainage. However, for butt joints or 45 degree mitered corners, is there any gap required for expansion or contraction?

Answer This Question
A: The TimberTech advanced PVC decking does not require a gap at butt or miter joints. Expansion of the PVC boards will stop once it meets resistance. If you have any further questions, please give our Customer Service team a call at 877.275.2935. Thank you. - TimberTech Support

Q:Can I stain deck boards
by|Nov 2, 2023
1 Answer
Answer This Question
A: Hi Dave. Thank you for your question. The beauty of our boards is that they do not require periodic painting or staining. The capping on the board is a 100% polymer cap, so paint and/or stain would not adhere to it, even if you were to try it. Were you looking for specific colors? Please give us a call at 877.275.2935 and we would be glad to walk you through our color pallet and send you some free samples.

Answer This Question
A: Hello Michael. You can install over concrete, but the decking should not be attached directly to the concrete slab, but rather a wooden joist structure built over top. For more information, please visit https://www.timbertech.com/ideas/deck-over-concrete/. - TimberTech Support

A: There is a video on youtube of someone installing on concrete. I am not sure if its recommended. Probably no warranty. Search composite decking+concrete

Answer This Question
A: Hello Joey. That you for your question. Paint is not required for the under side of the board. However, for aesthetic purposes, if you do wish to paint, we recommend using an exterior grade latex paint. Best to take a sample piece to your local paint store and ask them for a color match.

A: No, composite decking does not need to be finished.
