Q:When my fire pit has to be put out with a water hose, will it crack the fire bricks?

    Answer This Question

A:  Firebrick is made for high temps without cracking but a sudden temp change could crack your bricks. I would not use water, ever.

    by|May 10, 2021

A:  Yes by cooling them down so quickly

A:  That would depend on a couple of factors, but let’s say you have been burning and the fire pit is hot then yes the shock of the temperature change would degrade the bricks rapidly. Unless it’s an emergency you should never put out you put in this manner as you could actually cause the bricks and other materials to explode which would obviously be very dangerous.

Q:where is this located in the store

        Answer This Question

A:  Not found in the local store, but I ordered them online (12/23/2016) & delivered to local store for pickup. Bricks are being used as replacements in our Regency I1200S wood stove which heats the kitchen, dining & living room area of a 3 bedroom 1200 sq ft ranch type house. So far they are going strong & satisfied with the results.

A:  I don't believe this product is available in the store. I had to order mine on-line.

A:  Ask any associate or order on line.

          by|Jan 8, 2021

A:  First be sure the item you are looking for is available in your store. Set the store name at the top of the home page to your store. Then search on the item to bring up the details. Under the delivery section see if "In Stock in store today" is one of the options. If it is look around closely on this page (product detail) and you will find the Aisle and Bay that the product is located in. For example Aisle 30 Bay 04. Each Aisle is marked in the store and each shelf section (Bay) is also marked with a small sign.

A:  I ordered mine online. My store did not carry them, Vineland Nj. They do ship fast and are well packaged. Order 2 boxes of the bricks and not one was damaged.

A:  Yes, assuming the size of the bricks fit your fireplace. I have used them in my Pacific Energy wood burning stove and they have stood up very well.

          by|Nov 26, 2020

A:  Yes, you can, use refractory cement to stick them together, they can also be cut to fit with a regular wood saw. Good luck with your project.

A:  Don't see why not , but you could probably get by with regular solid concrete blocks. Thicker, larger dims. Means less needed

A:  Thank you for contacting United States Stove Company, This is not an approved floor protector for what you are describing as the heat will permeate through the brick and could cause damage. Should you need further information please do not hesitate to respond back.

A:  They are cream color, but will darken to brown /black after several uses. Color does not affect the fire brick's efficiency.

A:  They are a nice cream color pretty much the same as shown in the rendering on-line.

A:  Yes, But Sub-floor MUST be Flat and Level and Smooth. You can build a fire on the Brick,(which is what I do) or use outside heat source. If you use Mortar, make sure you use High Temp Mortar. This Brick will Not protect wood sub-floor.

A:  I use these bricks in a wood stove for 2 winters and these fire bricks do breakdown over the years like the ones they replaced. For a pizza oven (which I also own), you don't want them to breakdown, if I were to use a brick, you want them the same as a fireplace brick (which I've never seen breakdown). You can see in the pic I put a new brick next to bricks used for at least 2 winters (left side of pic)

A:  Don't forget, you spread a pinch of salt on the oven floor before you place the pie. Prevents the dough from sticking to the bricks.
