    Answer This Question

A:  Happy to help, Wesley! Varathane White Wash Interior Wood Stain can be used on bare hardwood floors. Like with all stains, be sure to test your stain to verify the desired color. To test, apply the stain in an inconspicuous area. After staining, Varathane Water Based Floor Finish Polyurethane should be applied, a minimum of 4 coats are required. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Varathane-1-gal-Clear-Satin-Water-Based-Floor-Polyurethane-2-Pack-230231/202057141 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6

A:  Happy to help, Chris. While not the exact same product, both Varathane Whitewash Wood Stain and Varathane Whitewash Wood Enhancer both contain an innovative oil based formula that adds beauty and brightens wood with a shade of white color while allowing the natural grain to show through. - Rust-Oleum Product Support 6

Q:We love the white wash look. We want to apply this to new birch wood butcher block for our new kitchen. Can we use this product? We don't plan to use the countertop as a cutting board, just as a countertop. Please advise. Thank you.

            Answer This Question

A:  Thanks for asking, Paula. The Rust-Oleum Varathane White Wash Wood Stain is not a food-grade coating and not intended for use on countertops. The Rust-Oleum Watco Butcher Block Oil would be the product we offer for that type of application. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Watco-1-pt-Carbon-Gray-Butcher-Block-Oil-370150/316419487 - Rust-Oleum Product Support 5
