              A:  They are NOT. They are treated for ABOVE GROUND use. Grab a 2x4 in the store. All of those are treated for ground contact!

                A:  It can be painted. Flick a little water on it. If it absorbs the water, it's ready to absorb paint. If the water beads up, wait a while longer for the wood to dry.
