A: The roof anchor does not have to be at the peak of the roof and can lay flat as long as it is secured into a framing member.

Anchor it high and you work lower.

A: you could do this as long as you fasten the anchor properly although on a flat roof not sure what an anchor system is really going to do for you and anchoring like this would only keep you from falling off the opposite side leaving you susceptible to a fall from all other sides

A: As a retired elevator person. I used fall restriction systems from about the time they were required by OSHA. Since the anchor is the point that keeps you from falling and the system is only as good as the weakest point. The studs of a wall like a 2x4 or 2x6 in the interior would not be able to have all of the screws into solid wood. On a roof you usually install the center of the anchor over a roof truss or rafter and the other screws are into the roof sheathing. Since you might in the event of a fall putting lateral forces on the screws holding the anchor plate I would say the manufacture would not recommend using it in the manner you described. A bearing plate going across several studs would work if the possible lateral load is limited. You usually put the anchor in the middle of the roof to limit the lateral load in the event of a fall. This system is limited to 310 lbs when installed as directed.

A: As a former state maintenance worker the best anchor location is above your work elevation.

A: You buy it for less than $100 . Adjust to your size and use it all the time on a roof while working. You can use it ,tree trimming , putting up holiday lights or getting a cat from a tree. Tie it off all the time and it will be there if you need it to work. Mine gives me a sense of security which I didnt have before. Work with yours and be more confident and be there at dinnertime with family.
