We used this to mount a ceramic head with huge antlers, that we couldn't attach to the wall directly. We painted it mounted deer and we are pretty happy with end result. we just have to touch up the screws. The wood was smooth and it could be used for a table top.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of this tabletop. There were a dozen to choose from and they were all very flat and straight. The sanded side was so good I didn't even sand it again before staining and three coats of varnish and the rounded edge was perfect. Definately worth the under $10 price tag.
